I'm going to blame Iride01 for my problem. While perusing the forum one of his posts, or reply's mentioned that he regretted riding the same bike for so long, and I immediately realized I was doing the same thing. I'm riding 150 miles a week give or take, in some pretty good hills and have concluded it's time to give my 2001 Lemond Zurich a well deserved retirement.
I got it new, and at the time was all about being slammed and aero. As I got older and had some not so epic riding years, I have adjusted and refitted myself, pretty much chasing stack height, exactly what I did not want 21 years ago. Truth be told, I'm dialed in fairly well now, but won't be posting the Zurich in hot or not.
I want a Domane, and my feeling since deciding to retire the Lemond was to go up a size from my 59cm Lemond, (I understand there is really no comparison in sizing between my current bike and a new Domane). I also understand that the fit calc from Competitive cyclist is not the final word, but I inputted my numbers to get an idea, my cycling inseam is 93cm,total height is 185cm. The CC fit calc recommends a 57 cm TT length, and a 60cm Domane has a 57.9cm TT.
Now, I had a chance to spend some time on a new SLR7 today, in 58cm, and liked it a lot, but had to slide the saddle back to get kinda dialed in, I had room left on the saddle rails to go further, but couldn't help feeling I wanted more stack height, or French fit, saddle closer to handlebar height. I don't want to end up like I did on the Zurich. At least it took 21 years for me to get creaky on the Zurich.
I'm not requesting the internet to tell me what size to get, but am curious if owners or anyone with experience with different sizes could weigh in to help me decide. I'll stop blathering at the internet now...

I have a 2021 SL6 in 58cm. Went from a 60cm Madone 5.0. Saddle position should be relative to the pedals. Unless the seat tube angle is is steeper and I’d have to look, it should not matter. Size will impact reach and head tube height. Oh also how much seat tube sticks out and stand over. Anyway the 58cm was a better fit. The 56cm fit also but needed the long seat post and a longer stem.

Oh and if you don’t have it getting used to the smaller chain rings takes a bit

Measure your fit from the Zurich, Saddle height, set back, bar reach and drop.
Then transpose it to the Domane and see which size frame you need.

Are you sliding the saddle back for reach? You shouldn't be - you should be moving the saddle fore and aft to adjust knee position relative to the BB. If you're adjusting for knee position, there's only a 0.2° seat tube angle difference between the 58 and the 60 (73° and 72.8°, respectively), which, at your inseam, would translate to a position 3mm further back (at the same rail position) on the 60mm. IOW, I don't think that this should be on your radar when it comes to determining the proper size frame between the two.

No, I slid it back for leg position. I have looked at all the geometries and am going with a 60cm. Trek recommends a 60 also.
The 58 would have worked I'm sure, but still seemed to be going to the long, or extended position (seat rails and post).

I generally ride a 54 in most all bikes I have ever ridden. For the 2021 Domane SLR7, I went down to a 52 as it felt so much more comfortable. I tried the 54 Emonda SLR7 and it felt really good, very comfy, the Domane 54 made me feel too stretch out even with a 90mm stem. So I went with the 52, put a 100mm stem on it and it is comfort city.

Same experience here. My Spesh is a 58, and fits perfectly. When I got the Domane SL5, had to go down to a 56. Could barely reach the pedals or bars on the Domane with the saddle at its lowest.
