Retro roadies- old frames with STI's or Ergos

Front triangle meaning the top tube, down tube and head tube. The seat tube, bottom bracket, and the stays remain intact. The Merckx Corsa 01 doesn't come with EM stay ends. The replaced tubes hold true to the original dimension and the replaced carbon fork has the same length and offset as the original steel fork. I still have the original fork if I ever want to put it back on the bike.....the new carbon fork lightens the bike and still offer an inspiring ride.

Was it the ovalized Merckx with columbus MAX? It was called MAX in the tig-ed Bianchi version, but may have had a different name in the lugged Merckx.

I can't speak for the MX Leader since I don't own one. But the Merckx Corsa-01 also has ovalized down tube and seat tubes at the bottom bracket junction. Corsa-01 is named because it uses Deda ZERO UNO tubing

It started out as a well used '82 De Rosa Professional with Super Record:
It received a well deserved repaint by CyclArt, had it cold set to 130mm and upgraded to 10 speed:
After the 10 speed conversion it just didn't look right and I decided to back date it to 8 speed

I'm sorry to pipe up and be the one to say it but....

Not me. I like the 8 spd version the best... Although I would put back the "10 speed" wheels and get rid of those azure tires and get something else instead. Definitely feeling the 8 out of all the rest though.

At least you guys aren't choping off derailleur tabs, putting on cowhorns, and giving them a couple coats of Krylon.
That's about the most charitable thing that can be said, though.
Why don't you folks just buy newer bikes and leave the collectibles to the collectors?

The thread says retro or classic not just vintage. My Colnago is a 2008. You couldn't put downtube shifters on it if you wanted to and came with a threadless fork. But it still has a retro classic feel.. A win win if you will..

More fun this way? They own the bike and want to make changes? Any number of other good reasons?

I rather continually make necessary changes to keep riding my old De Rosa than to give it up and buy a modern bike. What could have been more charitable?

Why don't you stay out of threads that bug you so much and not worry about what other people do to their bikes?
I guess you just like to argue, have fun with that.
