Hello,

Has anyone had any experience with the new 2021 Zipp 303 Firecrest wheels? I am thinking about getting a set and was hoping to find some firsthand feedback. Also, since these are hookless rims, does anyone have any suggestions for tires? I contacted Zipp and they weren't really helpful. They simply said, they defer that information to the tire manufacturer and as far as they know the only company that doesn't offer a hookless compatible road tire is Continental. They went on to suggest Schwalbe and Hutchinson. When I checked out the Schwalbe and Hutchinson sights, there was no mention, that I could find, of any of their road-specific tires being hookless compatible.

I don't have the Firecrest, but I do have the 303S. Love them so far (somewhere around 2k miles on them). I've been running the 28mm Schwalbe Pro One Addix TLE - awesome tire and wonderful combination. If I can't find more of the Schwalbe in stock for a decent price, I may move over to the Vittoria Corsa/Control TLR for the winter...

As far as other tires, there's not much on Zipp's site at this time, but I personally wouldn't be afraid to steal from Enve's tire compatibility list for their hookless wheelsets; just look for whatever 25mm internal width, hookless rim they've got and go from there.

Edit to add: oh, a couple other tires that are specifically made to be hookless compatible are the new Pirelli P-Zero TLR and TLR SL - those are on my short list, too.

I'm surprised by how durable/high mileage the tread is. I had well over 1k miles on them before the excess rubber along the centerline disappeared from the front tire

I tried it once out of curiosity and they didn't seat. They have seated every time with my ****ty canister, though.

I've had no issues getting Pro1 Addix to seat with a floor pump. 30mm tires on LB 56mm hoops

I've only tried a few times, but I've never been able to seat a tire with just my pump; maybe it has poor flow - it is a rather slim cylinder.

I have a 10 year old Spin Doctor(Performance Bike brand) pump, but I couldn't be happier with it's performance.

FWIW, inflating and storing the next tires you plan on using(on an old wheelset) makes a huge difference.

I'm running 303 Firecrest. tubulars. I got them in Feb this year, so can't say if they're the 2021 version. But they're great for me.
