I've seen some wonky cadence stuff with the Elite, too; mostly it just bounces around a little more than it should, though I do see the occasional spike (though never *that* high). With the power, I can set the Elite trainer to grab the signal off of the Power2Max, which is more accurate, it's just unfortunate that I can't do the same for cadence.

I definitely categorize myself as a "all rounder". All of me is rounder that it used to be. As for bike skills, I'm definitely of the sprinter variety, with peak power above 1200w.
EDIT: Holy moly! I just looked at my power curve for all of 2021. It says my peak power is 1843w. I don't believe it. Seriously. I think it's an error with my PowerTap hub.

Yeah, I think that I've got 2 or 3 cadence/speed sensors around, but I'm not about to strap one on my bike just because my smart trainer cadence reading isn't as steady as I'd like. I am wondering, though, if I can unpair the cadence from the trainer and pair the PM crankset instead... Whenever Zwift connects to the trainer under the "Controllable Trainer," it automatically grabs it for the Cadence, as well, so I don't know if it's all or nuthin'. I'll try tomorrow.

I always told people I was good at rest stops, the strongest part of my ride. I even suck at descending which people say is the domain of heavier riders. I'm not aero enough and I'm too high up and too wussy to let it all hang out in the turns. I could pull pretty good on the flats and into a headwind, I still have some remnants of that.

That's why I think it was a PT hub glitch. I don't think it does so well with high-wattage accuracy. I tend to believe my Saris trainer does a better job.

I definitely can't descend like I used to. Most of it is my own comfort and confidence at speed. It has returned a little, but the pucker line is a lot lower than it used to be.
Considering how long I was off the bike, I'm quite pleased at how much of my peak power returned.

The one kind of descent I'm good at is the short, steep, straight descent. There's one right in my town where I routinely reach 40 mph. This helps getting up the other side, which isn't quite as steep or as high, but still... The problem is that there's a traffic light right at the place where I hit maximum speed. I don't have too much problem stopping, but if I have to, the climb back up the other side is a slog.

I use the Elite for power and the Garmin pedals for cadence. Using the trainer makes ERG a lot smoother imo. This is how I noticed something was dreadfully wrong with the pedals.

Which model trainer are you using? I've got a Suito. I think that I went the first... three weeks or so?... using the power reading from the trainer. I thought that ERG sucked when the trainer was in complete control, so if it's worse now, I've done the right thing in avoiding it. That and I don't have to concern myself with a warm-up period.

It's funny, some of the fast descenders I have ridden with have been small women. One time going down 39 from Angeles Crest this chica was hitting over 50 mph. I didn't even try, she waited later. She was a cat 2 but gave it up to have a kid. I see her once in a while riding with her husband and he is towing the baby trailer.

Cycliq has the functionality baked-in, but the data and video aren't always synced up well; I wish that they would add the ability to manually offset. There are some other editing suites that'll let you do that, but I'm too lazy to bother at this point. Maybe if I had some more interesting exploits to document.
