POLL type of bike you ride
There is a lot of discussion of weight and style of bike. please identify the bike style you ride the most. If you feel like it you can add your weight so people can get a feel for weigth vs bike choices

Would prefer to vote for more than one ... but I generally ride a road or a cross bike.
Both are AL, the roadie has CF forks and the cross bike has AL forks. Currently around 270.

My bike is a collection of parts that, over time have have evolved into what I ride. Currently Shimano cranks, gear set, brakes on a Surly long haul trucker frame. When something breaks, I replace it with something better/stronger.

I actually ride both a standard road bike (2010 Landshark - I don't ride the Lemond much anymore) and also a standard Mountain bike (Santa Cruz 2006 Superlight and 2012 Juliana).
I also commute on a "Franken-bike" which I also use as my winter/night time bike.
I hate to throw out my weight but let's just say I am fat....

I ride road bikes, 2 steel and 1 carbon fiber. 6', 220 and dropping (from 240). One of the steel bikes I'm confident to ride at any weight I'm likely to reach, it's built like a tank. The CF is for 225 and below, and the other steel is only for <210.

POLL type of bike you ride
I started at 257+ (that was last weight I recall seeing tho I may have been heavier by time I got bike and serious about riding to help lose weight since I can't walk any due to physical limitation)
I'm 5' 7"
Started with Trek FX 7.2 (19") in summer 2011. Used it to ride river trail and commute to work.
In April 2012 I got a road bike (52cm) Trek Madone 3.1 and later in June was forced to upgrade to Madone 4.5. I was down to 245 when got road bike and am currently at 217.
I need to be much better at my food intake

I started at 400lbs in Jan/Feb. Bought my first bike in May around 375lbs, a Specialized Expedition Sport. Then bought a Trek FX 7.2, then a Trek DS 8.3.
Now today at 304, I'm riding a Specialized Secteur Expert Disc road bike. They call it a road bike, but it has some non standard road bike parts on it as well. Works for me. When I get under 300 a ways, I might look at a full carbon bike, but for nowI am loving the Secteur and throwing rocks at my hybrids.

Standard road bike. I started at 270 and am down to 245 now. I have never had any problems with any parts on my bike. My Shimano RS 10 rims and hubs only have 20 spokes, but have never broke a spoke even on the rough roads around here.

Don't know how anyone is forced to upgrade to the 4.5... it's a really nice bike! and going from 257 to 217... great effort! (Poppabear you too).

I ride an Aluminum framed Hybrid. Currently 5'9" and weigh around 170 (guess that doesn't make me a clyde eh?), working towards an even 160. I figure in a couple years I'll be switching out the hybrid for a road bike but for now I prefer the upright riding.

My 'normal' ride is my 2013 cross check. I picked 'cyclocross' even though it's set up more like a roadie (but on the other hand, is no where near a Madone, etc.). My 'race day' bike is the Bianchi.
The two bikes are set up very similarly in terms of fit. The Bianchi is a touch more aggressive, is a little lighter, and climbs easier (triple crank), and I run 23's on it whereas the Surly has 25's. The Surly, meanwhile is built to tackle long rides on chip n' seal.
I bought the Bianchi when I weighed 255. I built the Surly at 235. I weight 195 today.

I ride rail to trail paths and MUP's with varying surfaces, aluminum framed hybrid/cross with discs, last time I was on the scales I was at 235 but steadily taking the weight off. For the type of riding we do I don't foresee any changes to the type of bikes we ride. If there was any change it would be to something like the Specialized Sirrus from my current Crosstrail.

just pedal
put most of my miles on a 700c disc trucker (touring bike) with titec/jones H bars
for short jaunts down to the store and around the neighborhood with the kids I ride my wife's pedal forward (electra townie)... I want one but can't justify it.
I'm building up an old lugged trek road racing frame that I expect will get most of my miles once it's done... got most of the parts in today but noticing that the older shimano STI brake/shifters hoods are pretty sticky and I have yet to find replacements doh :-/... might just force me to goto campy and do a shimergo conversion (which is what I really would like to do anyway)
er missed the weight... 315 lbs

I have two, I guess you would call them frankenbikes, and a road bike. Depends on distance, weather, and what I'm carrying.
An old Schwinn/Panasonic that has had cruiser bars put on and been converted to an "English" 3 speed using an old Sturmey Archer hub I had laying around. A Bianchi Broadway, also converted to cruiser style. Finally a Raleigh Port Townsend.
The three speed is for toddling around town and shopping. The Bianchi is for bad weather/winter, and the Raleigh is for longer rides.

I started this spring with a couple of different Treks and then got a Actionbent Roadrunner recumbent high racer. Once I started riding that, the 2 Treks started to be ignored and ended up being sold. When I started riding the bent I was about 350, now I'm down to 305 and falling.

Built up my Disc Trucker this spring. Loving it. Previous bike was partial donor.
May my 2007 Fuji tourer, rest in pieces...
I'm a weight lifting 6' 265, was 285 old fart. I'm cutting down to 250-240 range. I'll probably never beat last years max's...

LET'S ROLL
My weight fluctuates between 195-200 lbs.
Sometimes I use my Brompton folding bike to get to work.
But most of the time I use my roadbike. Currently on a
carbon Scott CR1 Pro, but was happily rolling along for a few
years on an aluminum FUJI Newest 1.0.

For many years I rode strictly a standard touring bike with drop bars, a Raleigh Wyoming. My main ride currently is a hybrid/commuting/touring bike, a Wheeler Trekking Lite 3700 with the adjustable stem all the way up.
