Time to mount the bags
I had my first glorious fall ride this morning. Started off at 54 degrees (F). Was wearing a light merino base with tee shirt over it - and knickers.
It was chilly enough riding in the shade, I quickly stopped and pulled out my windbreaker.
The sun broke over the trees and at about mile 10, the windbreaker was too much. So it went back in the bag.
My sleeves went up and down for the remainder of the 32-mi ride, but the layering was pretty much perfect.
Made the 32 miles in 2 hours flat, including stopping to eat a banana.
It quickly warmed through 70 by the time I got into the office, and will push 80 this afternoon.
If I had continued riding through the morning, would have to stop, peel the merino base layer, and stuff it in the bag, too.

You commute 32 miles, one way?

no, I haul the bike, play hookie a little, and ride a greenway loop near my office, then go into the office.
My commute is 17 miles and 800' elevation, but no safe route - taking a safe route would make it 30-mi one-way.
The way my job works, I also don't have to go into the office every day. I have a pretty good office at home.
