A box of chocolates, a bid for government contract and the Capitol dome. The deliveries are not going to the same place. That would be bribery. Wine is used for that, not candy, and the wine never goes on the same manifest as the bid.

I never really delivered wine to the same agencies that I delivered bids to. I shouldn't have said that but it sounded good at the time. I don't know anything that you don't know. I believe corporations have excessive influence over congress and I have delivered a case of wine or two to the hill, but it was always through a third party.

Had a full load the other day. Picked up my late grandfathers wheelchair that had been sitting in storage and met up with my grandmother at a Mobility dealer to put the chair up for sale.

The box is full of assesories that attached to the chair. And I'm glad the chair folded, made it much easier to strap down.

Michael and Andre were playing really nice interpretations of classical music on violin and electric bass. I listened to some Mozart and Bach. I gave them a dollar and two chocolate bars.

With the help of a few friends we collected about 12,000 pounds of food for the Campus food bank in a span of 2.5 hours... a good portion of this was brought in by bicycles and trailer and the BAW trailers were carrying 200- 300 pounds per trip while I was only able to carry 100 but was able to run a few more trips since my route was closer to the drop point.

Indeed, awesome haul!

For a few years, the C&O Canal was the most important route for the transport of goods from the west (Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Maryland) to the port of Georgetown. During the lengthy construction of the canal, trains were invented and a rail line soon rendered the canal somewhat obsolete. I transported some goods along the canal towpath today although I believe bikes are actually banned from this section, the end of a 184.5 mile towpath. Bikes are allowed on the other 184.4 miles and it's a popular route for bike tourists. It's unpaved, only the last few blocks have this brick surface.

I hauled cardboard boxes today. I don't expect to do a lot of skiing this season, but I'm looking forward to winter.

i biked 22km today with my trailer before i got a ride from my dad. i went to go pick up some parts off my one truck. i ended up hauling way more stuff than i needed.

Commuted with my GF to her job and then peeled off to go to a meeting. Met up with a friend for lunch and a ride by the ocean. Hit up the UPS store for a parcel of bike parts and grabbed groceries for the next few days. I'm glad I had some spare webbing straps and bungees!

Today, I moved a box of rocks. (dumb as a box of rocks...)
A local road is being repaved, and there were some rocks, like railway ballast, two inch crushed stone, in the intersection. I put most of the big chunks in coffee cans, three coffee cans full. I didn't want to dirty my panniers, that's why I used coffee cans. The rocks were actually out of the roadway, apparently the cars tires swept them out of the roadway. But there was this debris between the RTOL and the main drag, at the intersection of Town Path and Glen Street, here in Glen Cove , Long Island.

The lines hav not been painted yet on this new pavement, so I thought I'd give the DOT a "suggestion". I had chalk with me, so I drew in a triangle between the RTOL and the main road. I would like to see a painted triangle there, with chevrons, or as we call them "zebra stripes".

I did some box jobs. Parked near a trike that has nice signs on it and may serve more as an advertisement for the sandwich shop it sits in front of than as a delivery vehicle.

The large flat is the biggest thing I've carried. I was eyeing it and the rest of the load when I heard from a voice saying "the boxes are fragile."

I said, "OK I'm taking them then." This would not have fit in a hatch back so it was billed as a truck call.

Hopefully with that big flat sheet there wasn't any prevailing cross winds.

I never thought about wind blowing my trailer over until recently. It has tipped over before due to operator errors without any help from the wind!

The other guy who uses a BikesAtWork trailer to make deliveries in DC made a PVC framework for his trailer about as tall as that large flat and he covered it with a waterproof canopy. I didn't know why he quit using that until I ran into him on a rainy day this week. When I mentioned that it would come in handy on rainy days, he told me he took it off because strong winds would blow his trailer over with that on it.

I assume he was riding empty or lightly loaded when his trailer was blown over. I think there was enough weight on the floor of my trailer in the picture above to prevent a wind from flipping the load. I think the fragile flat would fold first, which probably would have caused more damage than the whole load tipping over.

"Sorry lady, you didn't say 'Do no fold spindle or mutilate'. How's was I supposed to know??"."

I did errands on my bike today. I picked up a 1964 Raleigh ladies' 3-speed. I strapped it to my trailer and rode home.

Then I brought a check over to a neighbor on the other end of town. Then I went food shopping and to the bank. Groceries went into the trailer. Checks went in the bank. Money went in my pocket. I brought home three bags of groceries and a pie. I'm making a pie, too.
