Seriously, where do I get a big frame? Im on a 58 cervelo and its too small. Im 6'4, I need a big bike. BMC, Argon, Cervelo, all out. Felt says its a 60 but their stem is odd, Im not sure it would fit right either. Fuji makes an XL 595mm but its unavailable until next spring. Even chinese frames I can't find anything 60cm



Im at a loss, other than just waiting for a Fuji (although 'next year' often means 'mmm maybe never')

Specialized makes a 61 frame and at at my local track this frame is a popular choice including by some national master champions.

Cannondale makes a 60 track frame and I was just examining one - it appears to be a modified road bike.

Both frames are aluminum alloy.

Check the geometry. Years ago when I was looking at Specialized frames, their effective top tube lengths were 2cm shorter than their model size. Meaning, a "58cm" frame had an effective TT length of 56cm. It was like that for every size in the line.

What is the deal on the TK1 sizing? The L says its 60 but the propriety stems are crazy short. Can you run a regular stem (120) with those?

Yes, when last I checked, you could swap out the Bayonette fork/stem system for a normal fork/stem system. I could do it on my 2010 TK1.

Also, the short stems don't take into account the length bayonet thingy. They come out to be a max of 110 or 120mm.

You are correct - I measured a 61 bike and the TT was around 58.5. But I have found reach is more important than TT length.

yeah like carleton sayys, you'd need a replacement fork.

the bayonette fork steerer tube is short; the stem doesn't attach to the steerer tube, it has a proprietary interface with the stem topper thingy. so, if they have shorter than usual stems, it's because they attach much further forward than on ordinary systems. capisce?

All-City makes their Thunderdome in a 61cm. Have a look, it might suit your sizing needs. I just ordered a 58 and it's dead on with sizing compared to my 58cm All-City road bike. The 61cm would be too big, the 55 too small.

I thought I'd throw in here the dimensions for the BT Edge 59cm frame. After a conversation I had last night via FB, it was eluded the the dimensions for the BT frames are quite elusive. I emailed BT last year and they got back to me within a day. I have recently contacted them for the 61cm dimensions, but as yet I don't have an answer.

So for the BT Edge 59cm frame:

nah, i'm sure it comes stock with a delrin adaptor so that you can use standard cranks with bb30 bearings. cannondale's caad10 track bike does the same thing.

My BB knowledge isn't up to date with the many types these days, but that will only allow you to use cranks that run external BB's? Excluding ISIS, Octalink etc?

Quick comparison with the track frame and their ATT aerodynamic road frame - geometry is identical in the large (didn't check the other sizes) so appears they have just added horizontal drop outs to a road frame.

manufacturers figured out china will swap the dropouts on a TT frameset and boom "mass start" geometry was born/evolved.

Apparently the low BB and PF30 set up are for an eccentric BB, to dial in height and fit.

I also never understood why Boardman and UKSI didn't just partner up commercially and slap "Boardman" on the downtube of the UKSI bikes. Make a cheap generic clone and you're all set to play within the UCI's commercial rules.

Also, the longest top tube is 57cm. Really? REALLY? In 2016, the longest top tube on the £1,400/$2,000 flagship frame is 57cm.

That frame is probably worth $500-700...retail.

But, but it's carbon. So it must be really good, right?

Oh, and the handlebars are from the road line, so 40, 42, or 44cm based on the size of the frame.

So, when all of the leading bikes in the world use 74 degree seat tube, they choose 76-79 degrees?

Upright seat tube, short top tube, 73 degree head tube, low bottom bracket for a £1,400/$2,000 "C10" (not sure what that means) carbon fiber frame that bears the name of one of the greatest and most meticulous track racers ever.

I find it hard to believe that he had much to do with the decisions that went into this bike.

This is a road TT frame with a road fork (instead of a TT fork) and track ends slapped on the back.

Compare this with the Hoy. A man of similar laurels who also started a bike company. The Hoy track bike is affordable, strong, and has the same geometry as the bikes you've seen in world-level competition, all for a fraction of the price.

there are a couple different things you can do with a BB30 shell. You can press in BB30 bearings and then press in a step-down adaptor to use GXP or Hollowtech-type cranks (made for an external BB), or, you can press in a threaded shell instead of bearings, and then you can screw in whatever you want.
