I don't know. There are lots of things I'd like to believe but am unable to convince myself of. But if I could, I'd be lousy at my job. So, there's that.

13.4 miles today. Woot! Woot!
A train was blocking a path exit. Had to take a pedestrian overpass with great views of a very popular dog park. So much fun to watch. While hanging out I saw a woman who had been in my group for an overnight bike/camping trip a few years ago.

Hey Eric F and/or big john we are coming to Pasadena in a couple days. Before I take on Mt Wilson or Mt Baldy etc., I may need to warm up with an easier ride.
The Pasadena TrekBikes wesbite has several routes suggested and this one looks easy but it's urban so I wonder about traffic. Comments??

You can still do a climbing ride one way or another.
btw, I would ride that urban route you posted. It's busy, no doubt, but it's not the worst around here.

There is supposed to be mountain snow tomorrow night into Wednesday and as low as 3500 feet. The smaller roads to Baldy will probably not get plowed if there is any snow. Angeles Crest will get plowed but Mount Wilson road will probably not. In any case, if there is enough snow to stick and then the sun comes out those roads will be a wet mess.

My shifters don't need batteries. They are host powered. Of course I'm on the PUP* list going on 14 months.

Did my first bit of 30/30 todays. 3 sets of 10 with 5 mins between each set.
Was actually a lot of fun, and wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be which means I prolly didn’t go as hard as I could have. Some key points that I learned.
LAJ warned me not to have a bunch of data showing, I ignored him, and chose to have 3 sec power, lap power, lap average speed, heart rate, and cadence. Well LAJ was right. I didn’t need all that data it was distracting and told me nothing relevant. Also 3 sec power caused me to over shoot each time I started.
I forgot to ask my Coach what to do the 30 “off seconds”. So I just down shifted and spun up and focused on catching my breath. I made no attempt to maintain a power during the 30 seconds off. I was also on a 3 mile road so I would have to turn around every now and then.
The creaking got worse on the madone, so I took both bikes to the shop. Madone BB is done but should hear more about it tomorrow. Mechanic got my brakes on the cervelo to stop rubbing but once I got home the front brake started rubbing again. The bolts that hold the caliper on are really stiff, and hard to gauge if they are tight enough. I think when I use the brake it causes it pull to a side and then it starts to rub. Solution, remove the front brake.
Ordered a pair of GP5000 28mm for the MadOne, those should come in tomorrow, and I had the mechanic re wrap my bars on the Cervelo.
Went and watched the Todd Stadium Crit yesterday, Looks a lot like a lot of fun, but I have to admit I think I would like a road course more than a Crit.

Well I'll likely start with espresso beans. I have a french press; can't say I much like the method. I much prefer the Turkish coffee thing, or stove top espresso. But I don't have one of those machines anymore. I have never liked filtered coffee. And, to top it off, my hotplate is the new-fangled induction type, so I can't use aluminum. Have to find a steel one if I decide to go that route.

I'm barely off that list. The 17 miler I did today was a good 7 miles too long. We have been so caught up in not catching the virus that we have zero information on the recovery process. It is long and drawn out. Patience is required, if you are an active person.

Yea the wheel is tight, when he was working on it I could watch the caliper move when he pulled the brake. I was riding around my neighbor hood and brakes really hard, wasn’t really thinking about it, and it instantly started rubbing again. It makes a decent about of noise this time around but it’s not really slowing the wheel down so I’m throwing in the towel and will just ride it as is. If the MadOne gets fixed then when I go pick it up I’ll bring the Cervelo back.
