Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

SRAM production is world wide as they've bought/acquired so many companies over the years. Some in Asia, some in Europe. I can't think of anything they make that is produced in the USA.

Adam Smith pretty much debunked this idea more than 200 years ago. Given the principle of comparative advantage, international trade increases the wealth of nations, including the ones doing the importing.

So here's something interesting. Apparently a long time ago, Paul Components used to make front and rear derailleurs for mountain bikes! Very rare now, with the price to match, but in procuring those really all that's left that's not US made would be shifters, tires, and cables, from what I've found.

Being so patriotic I'd think you'd want to only use a forum that uses servers and software entirely developed in the USA.

Paul made derailleurs. They aren't cheap though. I used to have a rear, and it was horrible, but it looked really cool. Some Paul downtube friction shifters would be cool, I don't know if they made those though.

Well, I guess because I pay local, state and federal tax..income tax, sales tax, employment tax, unemployment tax, property tax, city school tax, county school tax, gasoline tax, hotel tax, additional taxes on various utilities and more. And then I turn around and pay all those taxes again as a business owner. That seems like plenty of support.

When I build things like bikes and cars, I buy whatever the heck I feel like will work best.

Those would take a special bike to pull off the colors.

Note that Adam Smith recognized the idea of absolute advantage, but credit for the much more useful theory of comparative advantage is generally given to David Ricardo.

A single speed/fixed gear would get closer your non-US parts would be chain, tires (if you run tubeless you can do sealant made in the US) and possibly cables and housing since I don't think PowerCordz still exists

Here would be my choice a custom U.S. made TI bike with linear pull brake mounts. Paul Brakes and Levers (with KoolStop pads) maybe Paul or Phil Wood hubs and Phil Spokes and Nipples and Velocity Rims (or Astral) White Industries cranks, EAI cog and White Industries Freewheel, Ti Cycles Bar, Stem and Seapost, ESI grips (not an Oury fan but also MUSA) and Chris King Headset. Chain would probably be Izumi Super Toughness (Made in Japan) and Tires would be Continental GP 5000 TR (Made in Germany) and not 100% sure on cables and housing but generally run Jagwire so probably wouldn't change that.

It would be cool to have 100% MUSA but I also want quality cheap tires or chains or something like that wouldn't work for me.

Keep in mind these are from the mid 90s and for mountain bikes. I remember back then lots of bikes being a mishmash of colors. These would fit right in. They also made them in plain silver.

Lennard Zinn has a machine shop where he's made cranks. But I think you're out of luck for pedals chainrings and pedals.
