Because carrying a 4mm Allen is preferable to carrying my bike when I make an involuntary wheel/skewer donation to a homeless person.

That is why god invented sawzalls and vice grips. Never had to use the sawzall yet. (only on seatposts)
They're cheap, 10 or 12 a pair, and if you're really cheap, you could get a button head torx/allen of the correct length and a regular steel skewer end. under 5 bucks for 2.

How would that happen if the bike was always within your line of sight? Do leave your wallet there too for an involuntary monetary donation?

It's not clear what's going on. You said when you tighten it down "the tire rubs and can't spin". It's the tire that's rubbing? On what? You didn't post any pictures but I'd be very interested in seeing what's going on and where your tire rubs. I know you said you put it on the trainer, but there's still something wrong that should be addressed.

There are a whole lot of people, riding a whole lot of bikes a whole lot of miles, with QR wheels front and back. There should be absolutely no reason to worry about a wheel falling off. They're not that difficult to operate. If you have cheap ones throw them away and get good ones - they're not that expensive.

I lock even if I'm five feet away.
I spent my first 40 years in California. That’s ridiculous. Where are you riding, Skid Row?
