Honestly it will be an interesting addition that I think will add it's own theatrics. Also MvdP can deliver like 1400 watts at a very low speed so with or without this chicane it's not affecting him. It will probably screw over a breakaway at the most.

p-r...thinking bettiol is due. not as hilly as bettiol prefers but still...the cobbles tend to create separation and he's had good form this spring. mvdp is the obvious choice but bleep happens.

P-R was sure one for the record books. But the women's race was more exciting, wasn't it?

We watched on Peacock and while the commentary wasn't as engaging or detailed as the GCN crew, certainly not as funny, it was good to hear Phil again, and he had a couple of nice anecdotes from BITD. My wife knitted and I did a few round the house things including making dinner while we ran the whole race. Not a bad Sunday!

Dominant win by MVDP. Alpecin is so strong. Wish jumbo was all healthy, and Pogocar was there for UAE. But not sure if they could’ve chased him down anyway, he’s so strong. That chicane wasn’t too annoying, but I’d prefer it like it was. Hope Viviani is okay. Can’t find an update. Lauren’s Rex had a rough day.

I doubt anyone but van Aert could have stayed with MVDP for that long on that surface, and maybe not even he, but if VLB had been able to field a stronger team, they might have softened him up sufficiently that he couldn't get away quite as fast and early. Anyway, it was a magnificent ride.

My concern with Rex was that he sustained a significant concussion in the first crash.

All props to MVDP, but I sure wish either van Aert or Pogacar had been there to compete with him.

It's nice to see Pidcock come out on top. He's had a hard time. Also, oddly, these days Ineos seems like an underdog team.

I spent years routing for MvdP, and I still like him and think he's great. But his domination has been verging on unhealthy (for the sport). So I was hoping for somebody else.
