I have a couple of bikes with a couple of deficiencies that should bother me more than they do that I guess I don't care how someone else sets up their bike. So if I have any peeves, they must not be bad.

Not guilty of the marble tape thing and don’t build my own wheels...so I can’t be held accountable for not having a proper peek through at the valve hole...

Level to the ground is a new one for me, for CV I’ve always gone with bar ends in line with the rear brake, as per the retrogrouch blog.

Well, I only have one ride that’s newer then 88, so that’s about right, this is CV. Don’t really race, so really only a hobby and fitness activity, vs sport for me.

You know what totally ticks me off? Those idiot vintage bike manufacturers publishing catalogs showing their handlebars set up wrong!

It's annoying when there's only a few pages of a bike catalog that got scanned, usually meaning the mid and lower tier offerings for that year aren't documented.

Bearing in mind that I rode 38 miles yesterday and got into the drops ONCE, so perhaps I am different, but -- unless my shoulders are directly, vertically, above the bars, using the drops means angling my wrists to use them. So am am still utilizing the "long disproven?" method of pointing the bottom of the bars at the rear dropouts.

My pet peeve is not limited to C&V. It's noisy drive trains. Squeaky derailleur pullies, clattering rear derailleurs, chain rubbing the front derailleur cage, etc. Sometimes, all it would take is a minor trim adjustment or a few drops of oil to silence the offending item, but they will blissfully pedal along, thinking that all bikes make that noise.
