i did a 600k sans creme.

after a while the butt just gets used to it, and you learn how to ride w/out chafing.

I rode for three years without chamois cream and my butt was fine...in fact the only reason i use it now is because the cool burning sensation of Assos Chamois Creme feels sooooo nice and tingly

From what I understand (although obviously not from experience), riding long distances is more comfortable for men than women. It's one of the reasons given for the fact that there aren't as many female long distance cyclists as male.
