Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The CAAD9's top tube is mostly straight -- not sloped like that Synapse's, but not exactly flat like what you'd see on a typical vintage road bike. Actually, the slight slope on your Fuji's top tube looks pretty similar to what I've seen on the CAAD.

But, hey, what's a couple degrees..

Dan Dakin ddakin@cogeco.ca

You go to a font database and choose what font you want, the height of the font, and the decal color. Cost me $65 for the set, plus an extra one of each in case I messed up on application. Took me a good 2 hours to pick out those fonts. Looks a hell of lot better than the stock Xentis graphics in my opinion.

In the above case, "Mark 1" is bold italic Conielian Expanded and "Xentis" is bold italic Krazynights.

Just picked her up last Thursday. Rides like butter! It's true what they say about Ti, it has a "hum" quality to it.

a) 1978 Bridgestone Kabuki Diamond Touring with original Brooks B17 upgrade saddle. I still have the original packing materials, owner's manual and receipt (11/08/79).
b) My "Foodge" set up for touring. Have N.O.S. Pleitscher rear rack, Cannondale panniers, Cannondale handlebar bag, saddle bag, SKS commuter fenders, kick stand, Cat's Eye headlight, and Cat's Eye bar-end mounted mirror.
c) Mid-90s flat bar Raleigh Record CX with 27" x 1 1/4" Araya alloy rims (the other 2 also have the same type of rims)

I have about six bikes in total now, and get asked why I need so many. I explain they are like footwear to me. Different bikes (set-ups) for different uses. Somewhat similar to the way people own different pairs of shoes....sneakers, running shoes, hiking boots, boat shoes, dress shoes, work boots, etc.

Classic Specialized Epic Carbon Frame Road Bike, circa '91
Nickname: "Iron Man" per my 6 yr old grandson, due to the color (burgundy/gold).

Carbon frame, lugged, aluminum dropouts. Has a Co Mo fork, at that time they couldn't make an economical and light CF fork strong enough. Full 105 SIS gruppo (down tube shifters.)

Still in great condition, no corrosion. All joints tight. Rides sweet, smooth and fast. Pretty clean, with a few cosmetic scratches. Original BG seat, pretty comfortable. Indexed down tube shifters work perfect despite all the years and miles. Dam, I wish this baby was 2 cm bigger. Alas, after many months and sweet miles, I'll be parting with it. Too small for me, couldn't make enough adjustments to fit it. After I rode this though, I was convinced carbon frame is the way to go.

Shimano 105 group, 14 speed, cranks, shifters, brakes
Wober GTX rims
Hutchinson Tires
FSA Cabon wrap seatpost
Joy Tech C90 hubs
New Shimano SPD compatible pedals

Please clarify: brifters or downtube shifters? I think I see both in the pix.

Very good bike. She borrowed a friend's 06 Roubaix Pro for her first triathlon and really liked it. She "took to it like a fish to water" she says. She wanted the same bike and we found one at Performance. Great deal and good components for the price. It's lighter than my Synapse. Saddle will probably need to be replaced for something more woman-specific, but everything else is great.

Here are some reviews I found when we were looking at Fuji:

Looks like cable stops. My girlfriend's bike is like that. Might have been downtube shifters at one point, but when the STI was added, the shifter mounts became cable stops.
