Post on the CR list is that word will come out tomorrow that another postponement is forthcoming.

Thanks for that info. I'll keep an eye open today for any notice. Is the "CR List" the "Cino Ride List" posted in Bike Forums?

There's quite a bit of etiquette in there regarding posting and responding, so make sure you read the rules and lurk for a while to get the feel for the place before jumping in with your questions. Nice folks, just a different vibe than in here.

My take:

Classic Rendevous (CR) is like a wine bar.
BF C&V here is like a dive bar.

Pass the Ripple (Pagan Pink, please) or some Night Train. If you're out of those, Olde English 800 will do.

Not surprised, but still very disappointed.
What's the deal with their email and general communication. They have email, website, facebook and instagram...why not use these sites to update attendees? I haven't received email as of yet.

Damn. Just finished the last piece of my build by switching out my Speedplays for Toe Clips and Straps. Looks better, but it's been 30 years since I used toe clips.

Looks like official announcement was pushed to tomorrow.

Stay tuned, but don't think Eroica California will be held this year.

...and, avoid politics, religion and any other controversial topics. Just a heads up.

Pass the Mad Dog 20/20!

Sigh, wrote three posts and deleted them all. Just furious about the way this has been handled.
Totally incompetent.

This past weekend I had changed my mind about what bike to bring. I guess I have plenty of time for the build now.

Best explanation is over at CR

Impossible situation for the organizers. It takes a lot of effort and planning. Putting on an event, planning a multi-rider bike trip, etc. are audacious activities. So many things can go wrong, something big did this time.

Communication was lacking, but I can imagine the decision was put off as long as possible, hoping against hope that the event could go on. In just 6 weeks US COVID cases have gone up by an order of magnitude.

We should know more tomorrow.

This is a post from CR member Jon Spangler who received a reply (possibly via FB or FB Messenger or email from the EC FB account page about Eroica California 2021’s status. I would treat this as unofficial until the announcement is published and even then info is subject to change (like the Sept date being moved once). YMMV. I love how they sign off and remain a nameless entity.

6:14 PM
to Classic Rendezvous lightweight vintage bicycles CR friends and fans of Eroica,

Here is the new proposed date for Eroica California: April 29, 2022.

I just received this message about 5 hours ago. (CEST = Central European Summer Time, which is two hours later than Greenwich Mean Time/Universal Standard Time.)

Mark your calendars...here we go again! ;-)

Jon Spangler

Alameda, CA USA (at 6:14 pm Pacific Daylight Time)

Well, they really want to limit participation if April 29 is not a typo. It’s a Friday in 2022

4/29/2023 is a Saturday though.

I agree this isn’t being handled well. I don’t have any problems with the decision, just how it’s being handled. The event was supposed to happen less than two weeks from now, and I still don’t have an official announcement, just these rumors floated to “insiders.” Meanwhile the Delta surge has been ongoing for a while already.

Could that Friday 4/29/21 date be real?

I guess I never really believed it would happen. My plan was to register the week before if it really looked like it would happen. Between COVID, and what I thought the real reason it would be cancelled, fire season, I just couldn't pull the trigger to register.

Maybe they will push it two more days to April 31st.....
