Steven Breyer's bicycling accidents

‘One day in 1993, Stephen Breyer, then the chief judge of the Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, which sits in Boston, was riding his bicycle in Harvard Square when he was hit by a car. He was taken to Mount Auburn Hospital with broken ribs and a punctured lung. While he was recovering, he was visited by three White House officials. They had flown up to interview him for a possible nomination to the United States Supreme Court.’
and,
‘in 2011, he broke his collarbone in another biking accident near his home in Cambridge, and in 2013 he fractured his right shoulder and underwent shoulder-replacement surgery after crashing his bicycle near the Korean War Veterans Memorial, on the National Mall. He was seventy-four. You have to give him credit. He gets right back on the horse.’
These quotes come from Louis Menand's article about Justice Breyer and his latest book. Otherwise it's about the Supreme Court, not bicycling.

.
...I hope it doesn't degenerate into a thread about crashing. I hate crashing.

I didn’t crash last night until after midnight.

I don't know, crashing on the couch watching a cheesy movie isn't so bad.

Oh wow, thank you so much! I recently had a huge argument with my wife about whether or not any SOCTUS Justices have been in bicycle accidents. She kept saying none of the Justices have been involved in a cycling accident and I was all like 'What?! Of COURSE at least one has!'

And now you have helped resolve an argument that had divided us like nothing before. Bless your heart for that.

Former Justice Breyer rides a bicycle, and he's pretty tenacious about it.

Betcha didn't know that, did you?

That's what the thread is about. Not complicated, and shouldn't be frustrating!

Can we safely assume that there is absolutely no sarcasm in your post?

I actually did know that. IIRC, it was brought up in a thread a long time ago. Still don’t see any value in this thread.

Kraft ruined it. That was all we ate when we were kids. There was a plant within walking distance of my house. The cherry vanilla was great. The vanilla was made with lots of real vanilla beans.

Does he wave? That would be more interesting than reading about crashes. And what chain lube does he use?
