Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm salary and it doesn't work that way. There should be payroll processing time.

Don't worry. It's as easy as riding a bike.

With WV state government pay is held two weeks. So I will be paid for the work I do from May 1 - May 16 on May 31st. It sucks going the first month with no pay check but that's just how it works.

It works the same way here wether you are hourly or salary.

I bill Medicare and get paid some time between 15 and 120 days later. When I moved my office, they took 6 months to process the change of address. That meant NO medicare $ for 6 months.

Repaint is imminent. I have decided to paint it by hand with a brush, C&V-style.

keep a steady hand and don't let the paint get thick and gloopy.

It is weird and messes me up somewhat since I mildly live paycheck to check. I will need to pinch some pennies.
Every company has a different pay cycle like that. I can tell you that for a fact, because our company has been part of two different acquisitions in the last three years. I can't really quite remember all the little steps because it's been a bit and was just a hassle, but I think it went like this IIRC:

When I first joined, we got paid monthly...Work Jan 1-31, get paid Feb 15. When I started, I went the first month and a half without a paycheck. It was a small business then, so the end of the month came, we invoiced the clients, got back money, then the company paid us.

Then we got bought out and switched to payday so that we "lost" a week like you did, but I can't remember exactly how now. I *****ed, but not much you can do about it. Then we integrated with that new company's payroll finally and switched to pay day every other week. Pay period ends on Friday, get paid two Fridays later. We "gained back" a week or two there, so there was basically an extra paycheck.

Then we got bought out again and switched to twice a month payroll (the 15th and last day). Now we get paid on the last day of the pay period. Work the 1st through the 15th, get paid for that on the 15th.

So we started with a really long delay (work the full month, get paid the 15th of the next month), and have gradually moved towards a ~two week period where we get paid at the end.

In the end, there really isn't anything you can do about it. Some day a change like that may work out in your favor. I have been screwed by it once and benefited twice so far.
