Why so negative? I posted
shots from two bikes that had each sold for over a 1K euros recently, mine is nowhere near as clean but am going to get there now I have a blueprint. In actuality the lugs on mine are more ornate but I don't have drilled out stuff and the Blue/White one seems to have more modern brakes.
Mine is now being reworked and will post pics as it progresses and please if you want to play at who can piss highest....piss off

I envy the enthusiasm, but the €1100 Garlatti is a much, much, much nicer bicycle than the one you own. Even if you were to restore your Garlatti to pristine condition, it still would not be worth anywhere near €1100. The quality of an item dictates the value, not just the brand name. A Toyota Corolla can be purchased for much less than a Toyota Supra, for example.

I totally get your point. Both the Pristine models are using the same Gearset and tackle. The main differences appear to be the drilled chaining and brakes spotting much drilling, god I love the way it looks and luckily have a pair. Stem and bars the same, got some NOS pedals.
So what if I put a later gen rear derailleur on
leaving the cool "matchbox' one on the front and using drilled levers with a pair of Dia Compe Royales? or Tektro R556? are we still looking at a Ford pretending to be an Aston Martin?
I have the decals on order although mine has a super cool name plate up front and superior fork cowns and lest we forget the water bottle cage


Don't stress it's not set up and cheers in advance for not being nasty, boring or putting on women's clothing and dancing round in bars

The individual components are not the only thing keeping your bicycle from being of the same quality or value as the €1100 example. Your frameset is made from standard hi-ten steel with stamped dropouts. The more expensive Garlatti is built from a higher quality tubing (likely Columbus SL), with forged Campagnolo dropouts. The €1100 bike is higher tier across the board, regardless of the appearance of the lugs or headbadge.

My advice would be to just sell it for 150-200 if you can, SF is a big bike market and someone might like the patina look of this one. I'd certainly be happy to have bought it for 20 but I think I'd maybe ask for 100 in it's current state, which is still a great return on investment. In it's current state, whoever buys it is looking at this as a project or something they can lock up outside and not worry about getting stolen.

Take it outside and take nice pictures against a solid background for your ad too, I think a potential buyer is going to be scared off by looking at this bike in many different locations and in different states of repair and not be sure what they are actually getting.

Like others have said, the frame isn't high end, the parts are not high end. It may be the same brand as one that is high end, but it's just not going to get there. You're going to spend a lot of time and money trying to collect parts to install onto it to try and make it something it isn't. It sucks to hear when you think you are seeing big money or found something really valuable, but your eyes are fooling you comparing this bike to others that bear the same name.

Also, none of us on this forum stand to gain anything by giving valuations that are 'low'. We give valuations and are generally pretty close to the market because we sell and buy bikes, and we can spot the details that others less experienced can't. You may be catching some extra flak on here because you asked our opinion, got several that were pretty much the same, then went and listed your bike for 3x that, in what we can only assume is an attempt to cash in on someone who doesn't know any better. Buyers are savvy though, and as you will likely find, we weren't far off what this bike eventually does sell for.

I don't think that's a 24 inch frame. Looks to be 19-21 inches.

This bike is the same quality level as the OP's but mine is fully rebuilt and refurbished and I can't get half of what the OP thinks his entry level steed is worth...


To that add that I have been refurbishing or street restoring bikes for over twenty years. Admittedly, from time to time I have got a ridiculous price (offered in Ebay auction) for a bike or two, so the OP just might get lucky. This one did go for half of what the OP thinks his is worth...

I think most of answers to OP and later additions of the author are fruitless. He is clearly not taking in anything was said in good faith and with knowledge of the brand, model and market conditions. Comparing his bike to one sold/on sale on the specialist steel bikes site is like me comparing two bikes in my own stable. One happens to be exactly same type as above Garlati, badged Wander (two brands merged, look up Goggle for more) that I picked up in Italy last year, together with a large box of 1950s parts and a complete set of Campi wheels for couple of hundred of Euros.

Apples and pears are both fruit, but same they are not....

Now what you still don't understand is that your model is far far below the one sold on SS site. Forget about fancy lugs (a bit of chrome does not make lugs fancy BTW) and low end (read gas pipe) tubes and fact it weighs a ton in racing bike terms and it has lowest possible Campagnolo parts on it and steel wheels and cottered cranks and plastic saddle and gosh, do I need to go on? It is not of the same quality, period. Let me repeat, I have the same model and it is my shopping bike. I leave it downstairs as it is too heavy to bring upstairs where the real bikes are stored. And I only ride it when it does not rain, as cannot be stopped when there is a bit water on those steel rims. And because it weighs a ton. See what you have done, now I'm repeating myself....

There was a Schwinn Circuit up for around $500 and the same picture was posted as stolen in local Craigslist. Not sure if it was OP, but something wacky was going on.

this thread is why I enjoy these forums so much, it's more fun than tv. you asked what it was worth and your getting opinions. pricing and selling can be pretty subjective, I tend to overpay if it's something I want. personally I like your bike, I'm drawn to bikes like these. since you asked I'd value it at about 200 us, for no other reason than it has a little age, and the cool factor. there's no need to get defensive, it's your bike, you can price it as you see fit it will sell or it wont

I recently picked one of these here locally. A true survivor. All original, even the tires and tubes. They are marked "Made in Italy" and still hold air!
The condition is amazing for a bike this old. Check out the pics.
Only the Universal brake lever hoods need replacing.

The plate is actually a 1972-1973 Medford bicycle license.

I think this thread has possibilities. Personally I’ll be disappointed if it doesn’t hit ten pages. The value and quality of the bike was established on the first page. We’ve been arguing over nothing ever since.
