I'll only go out when there's nothing coming down and both the sky and the roads are clear, because of the plow trucks. I've lost several mailboxes to these monstrosities; their blades are so wide they clear everything to the edge of the pavement, which is over three feet outside the fog line on the federal route I live on. Also, they seem to always like to travel at the legal speed limit (45mph at my house). So even if they swerve and miss you, you're gonna get hit with a huge bow wave of salt-laden slush. Not for me.

I'm lucky to live in a place with reliably snowy winters so I change with the season without being burned by fickle weather: XC skiing. Haven't drank the fat bike snow riding cool aid yet (tongue in cheek!) because I like skiing too much and get plenty of riding in season. I do like to bail for at least a week or two for hiking and/or riding and/or paddling in the winter if I can.
