Bird on your shoulder, a question of identity

I'm wondering if anyone might know what make would have a bird (looks A LOT like the columbus steel tubing bird) on the shoulder of the forks. There are no stickers on the bike besides a remnant of a columbus steel sticker just beneath the seat. The bike is equipped with shimano 600 through and through. the headset is a " shimanosealed mechanism" same as the hubs.
bars are ITM, stem is unmarked.
any ideas would be much appreciated
thanks!
Alex

I think Performance or Nashbar sold a "house brand" frame or bike that had the Columbus logo on the forks or stay tops.
