The Ultimate is only currently being sold in high level specs. Endurace SL Disc 7.0 is the killer deal one would have expected, world class frame and full 105 including hydraulic brakes for $1999, so tempting.

So mostly $5k+ stuff. I would've imagined that people buying in that range don't care to save a few bucks all that much, but who knows.

Not a single thing in there that would interest me, although the Canyon/SRAM paintjob is pretty cool.

I imagine they'll expand the lineup to mirror what's offered in Europe.

I've never actually ridden one but the reviews for their bikes are consistently great. The Ultimate I once saw in person is the most gorgeous bike I've ever seen.

Was hoping that the color schemes would be other than matte boring black/grey. Looks like overflow colors that wouldn't sell across the pond. I was wanting the red Ultimate CF SLX. I'll wait.

Pricing seems great. $5k for an ultimate with Dura Ace and carbon wheels? That'll get you Ultegra and crap wheels from Trek for example.

At our club event there was a Sram neutral support car (not a race, volunteering as mechanics I think),

& they had a couple of Canyon bikes on top. My friend has been thinking of getting one, so I was looking.

Pretty, but one of the guys talked about the bike a bit, & the proprietary seatpost & stem (?) & maybe other bits

left me with the impression that it was not that practical of a choice.

If I recall correctly when Canyon started selling in Australia a couple of years ago they had a very limited selection too. Now you can get many more models. I see the US is only selling the 4 models of the Ultimate and they are the SLX version and one of them is the women's version. In other territories you can get the Ultimate EVO, Ultimate SLX, Ultimate SL and Ultimate AL SLX models. For Australia I count 15 versions (including 5 women's versions) of the Ultimate SLX alone plus 4 versions of the frameset (disk or rim and mechanical or electric).

I'd suggest if you are thinking about a Canyon look at what's available for the rest of the world and decide if you may need to wait for your ideal bike to become available in the US.

Just browsing.. found it somewhat curious, that at my 6' 2" height (188cm), Canyon indicates my size would a Large (55cm), vs. the XL/58 or XXL/61cm sizes. Not sure I'd go this route, especially if rumors are true that you can't really swap out stems?

Some models come with an aero integrated bar and stem so if you need to change the stem length you need to change the bars as well.

At time of sale I believe you can't change any specs (eg crank length, cassette, chainrings, stem).

I'm aware of that, I'm just wondering what he meant by "can't really swap out the stem," which is ambiguous and could mean anything from "the bike comes with a 100 but I need a 120 and they won't swap it free of charge" to "proprietary - you're screwed if you need something other than what comes with the bike."

edit re: edit - yeah, I didn't think that you could change out anything upon purchase, but I didn't really expect that, either. It would be nice on the integrated stuff, though.

Same here. Pretty slim pickins' so far. And as another poster mentioned... I thought the US would get different colors etc. I'm guessing (and hoping) that there's more to come. I would have thought there would have been a bigger kickoff and they would be offering some new stuff.

The most exciting thing on their website is the Exceed XLF 9 mountain bike.

Even then the web page for the MTB has photographs of road components on it.When you hover over the photo of the 50 mm carbon road wheel it tells you that it is a SRAM XX1 Eagle drivetrain. When you hover over the SRAM Red road shifters it tells you that it is a DT Swiss XRC wheelset. The specs say that it comes with an Ergon saddle but they have a photo of a Fizik Arione road saddle on the page.

Not sure who is in charge of QA in their IT department but I hope the QA in their manufacturing and assembly facilities are better.

I give them credit for keeping their website clean however. Unlike specialized, there is absolutely nothing on their website which could be be understood as anti-social. They pretty much stick to bikes.

The ENDURACE CF SL DISC 7.0 comes with 5800, discs, and carbon frame. After tax and shipping, the total is about $2,300. For that amount I can get a 2018 Defy Adavanced 1 with mostly Ultegra R8000 and support an LBS
