Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I hit 4000 miles sometime last week... hard to know exactly because my comp broke (cables got ripped out in an accident) about 600 miles ago.

Not bad, considering I didn't start riding till June! It's been really good for my knee (I hurt it last fall... two torn ligaments, and damage to the menescus) ... in fact the doc kept getting mad at me when she was trying to move it around, see if it healed up right... too much muscle behind it.

No chance of that for me. Well, I *could* but I'm not gonna. I am trying to avoid re-injuring my knees, so I don't have to sit out any more time in '07...

2006 is my 1st full year back cycling. My goal of 6000 miles was reached in June, so I increased it to 10,000 miles. A few weeks ago I made that mark, and stopped tracking mileage until 2007.

Just over 4000miles, but i also had a back injury at the end of july which has severly limited the time i can spend ridding ever since. I'd say i was probably on course to hit 6000 or so.

Somewhere a little over 3500, computer occasionally freaks out and doesn't pick up the magnet, so not entirely sure. Didn't start till march and was out for almost 3 months over may-august with injury. Not too bad considering the bad luck.

to the corner and back. j/k about 1000 miles, which isn't bad for getting back into the sport in March, taking a month off to get married and honeymoon, then crashing and wrecking my wheels in September.

I'm just under 6,500 miles for the year with no big rides planned before year's end, so I voted for the second highest option in the poll. Easily my best... until, I hope this point next year. Had I not been so busy November and December, not to mention January and February, I'd have a lot more.

Well, there's still another week left yet

but it looks like it's going to be close to 2500 miles for the year. Was shooting for 3000, but I failed.

I honestly didn't ride far enough!

In reality, I think I logged just under 2,000 miles. I hope to pedal around 4,000+ miles next year, assuming that my hamstring doesn't hate on me.

15770 km = 9801 miles as of today. I hope to reach 10000 by the end of 2006.
