The Christmas rush is on! I almost left these, but horizontal drop outs and cantilever brakes are not that common. And I have a wide set of chrome motorized dirt bike bars, that make a sound like Klunk every time I move them. It has an aluminum chainring on the Ashtabula cranks, a single Suntour power shifter and matching stem and seat clamp. So another bike and no idea where I'm going to stash it.. The mixtie is rougher shape with some mis-matched components, in including a Raleigh branded Suntour GT rear derailleur. The claw is bent , but the mechanism looks fine. I was going to strip the bike there, but the $5 dollars I would save spending an hour kneeling in the half frozen mud got deprioritized. The frame is kind of rough, but the aluminum bits are clean, as is the headset and bottom bracket. The freewheel is grungy, but has a 34t cog, so that wheel went in the van..

The anodizing and markings are long gone from the bottle holder, and the legs on those chairs are super short, which is probably why some one was giving 6 away. I have most of them spread around the property so I can keep an eye on my kid as he meticulously explores every inch of the hedge.

Looks like a big paradox to me. Frame, most components, wheels, tires, and especially the chain look almost virginal. But the crank looks like, yeah, it's lived outside. Definitely a good pick-up.

I know. I had planned to clean and flip it but the size has potential for multiple people in our short family plus there are some really nice features of the 700 series Multitracks. Time to focus on some other project and save this one for later. The price was certaily right.

Oh! I missed that that was a Multi-Track. Good get. I have a MT 750 and rides way nicer that you'd think it should. They are fabulous bikes.

FREE from a really nice young German couple who are returning home after living in Dublin the past couple years. Two flat tyres, but the dynamo lights work, wheels are true, BB & headset are smooth, nothing is stuck. 3-speed Sachs Torpedo IG rear hub also working well.
I'm in the process of refreshing it right now, respraying the rusty fenders, rack and mounts, rewiring the lights, touching up the frame. Am actually looking forward to taking it for a spin, it weighs a ton but could be useful with panniers.

This bike came in a package deal from a garage sale 3 years ago, I tuned it up and had it as an extra, in my garage, for shorter riders. My neighbor, knowing I was a "bike guy", asked if I had a bike she could "borrow" for a few days while some friends were visiting. A few weeks later I asked how the bike was treating her? She smiled and said she was hoping to borrow it for a few more weeks, I laughed and said, "sure, I know where you live". I saw her out on the bike fairly frequently and in the meantime I bought a few better ones that went in the garage where that one had lived. One day when she was tending her garden I said why don't you just keep that one, it seems like it is working for you. Fast forward 2 years, to today, she hollers over the fence, "hey, do you want that bike back?" She inherited a couple of nice bikes, so this one came back to me. This bike no longer has a slot in the garage, so i will put a new tube in the front wheel, quick hit on the rust (her garage does not seal well and we are on the water) and make sure everything works and then I will pass it on to another friend who needs a bike ride with his kids.

Apparently the people at this auction didn't know the value of this Burley Encore X. I snagged it for $21. Perfect for the grand babies! (sorry it's not classic or vintage, just a great catch)

Not too shabby for $20. The bolts are rattling around in the base. I'll loctite the pivot bolt when I put it back together.

I went curbside shopping last night. They are open late and the price is always right. A neighbor must have been cleaning out their garage and backyard. They accumulated quite a collection of bikes. Mostly Murray's and Huffy's, a couple of low end, modern Schwinn's,and a Mongoose from after Mongoose was cool. 12 bikes were in this pile. I rearranged the heap into this more orderly state in order to pick out the best bikes.
The Fuji has a nice looking 1020 straight gauge steel frame with a steel 3 piece crankset. Everyone here thinks Schwinn Ashtabula cranksets are heavy, and they are, but this crank might weigh more. This is all steel with a black plastic cover over the steel crank arms. Trek used a similar crank on the 700. I don't blame either of them for doing this. They are less expensive to make. Fuji, Trek and Giant are competing with Big Box store bikes. If they can get the price down closer to those bikes, then perhaps they can get people to buy better bikes. Anyway, back to our story.

The Haro might be a parts donor for the Fuji. I'll know better when I can view these new finds in daylight. .
I don't think that the 4 arm crank on the Haro would look right on the Fuji though.

I may, probably will never use this 16.5L monstrosity to its potential but I need a bigger bag than the one I now carry and this may work.
It was cheap enough so if I get any use out of it, it will be well worth it, or not.
This should come in handy for picking up larger items without having to deploy a packable knapsack like I do now.
Its pretty dang cool and got great reviews, the velcro straps are messed up a bit and I will fix them but may use this with a rack so it won't need the frame mounting and it can be removed from the bag.

An Ebay find not a dump save and hopefully my only "catch" for 2024, I'm trying to cut back LOL. Near as I've been able to determine thanks to all the knowlegeable folks here it is a 1974 Falcon Olympic Model 78. Straight gauge Reymolds 531 main triangle with Campagnolo 310/311 stamped rear dropouts. Paint job is horrible, the plan is to throw some parts at it for now and ride it. If I like it I'll strip it, give it a proper paint job and build it up with decent components.

This forlorn Hercules has already been thrown on the pile and mangled a bit, but I saw SA hub and a derailleur. I had to improvise a 10 foot long hook to get it out. Definitely some bits to salvage here.
