Car-Free Tourisim Promoted in Scotland

Mother Nature Network reports that Scotland is promoting car-free tourism via transformscotland.org.uk.

The Stirling Castle page, for example, lists bike routes, bike parking, and bike + train options.

Thanks for that!

We've been to Scotland and would love to go again.

I like the no BS approach to reporting the bike facilities as seen on the Edinburgh Castle page.

[h=6]"Nearest cycle parking[/h] Absolutely no cycle parking provided anywhere near Castlehill: a very poor situation which has been the source of complaint for many years. The Castle’s website suggests “racks located within walking distance of the castle at Victoria Street, Waverley Station or Chambers Street”, none of which are close to the Castle. We have observed bikes fixed to the railings outside The Hub but we would suggest asking the owners before use."

We took a bus up to the castle rather than trying to deal with cycling up there, and then doing something with our bicycles while we toured the castle.
