Ive been railfanning from the benches at the train station til now but I like the view better from this old loading ramp. Plus I don't have to cross the tracks or the Mother Road to get to it from the coffeeshop. It's likely BNSF property so I hope I don't get a beatdown from the railroad police.

well, it looks like it may be over for me as far as cycling goes. took it easy for two weeks, a few short rides. definitely feeling little flutters of arrhythmia. this morning felt pretty good, recovered from cold, did 20 miles and had another major run of ventricular tachycardia. no shock this time, got paced out of it. doesn’t seem to correlate to pushing hard or not - i kept todays ride to an average of 165w, 100bpm or so.
i feel fine (other than being very down about the whole thing) but it’s obviously not safe or wise to be out there on the bike.

There's a local organization called Upstate Forever that does a lot of conservation and planning work and they announced what they're calling their "Citizens Planning Academy". It's a six week course meeting once a week every Wednesday evening for about two and a half hours. I've always had an interest in conservation efforts and new development planning has become a much bigger interest of mine lately so it seemed like a super interesting course to take.
I very excitedly applied and was accepted yesterday afternoon!
Turns out the course is being held in one of the conference rooms at my job so starting in September I'll get to spend ~9 hours here clocked in, then come back for another 2.5
Oh well, at least it's close to my house!

Old retired guys ride this morning. 107° real feel at the end. We’re slow but we’re tough.

i actually re started cycling with an e-bike, still have it but since this doesn’t seem correlated to a really hard effort, not much point.

It's been strange being here in Maryland. The first day, it was both cooler and less humid than California. Well, THAT didn't last. Still cooler, but the humidity is 73% vs 54% in San Mateo. OTOH, I am sans velo, so it hardly matters. I'm not going to go out for a walk at lunch and come back all drippy, but maybe after work. My goal would be to NOT gain weight on this trip. But I think I'm going about that wrong.

Because I'm a fancy man, my lunch was instant ramen with eggs two ways - one scrambled and dropped, the other soft-boiled. Both were great. I hope that you don't **** yourself.

With my heart issues there will be a time when I will have to call it as well. Not yet for me, though.
Stay safe.

thanks everyone. part of me knew this was coming, given the nature of the disease, but i’m surprised it’s now and how sudden the change seems. maybe there’s something else going on, but if you hear hoofbeats…
