Huret RD help
I know I need to wind up the cage on this Huret RD (Svelto?), but it’s been decades since I’ve dealt with one. Help!

Do you mean reattach or reseat the spring on the stop?
IIRC, when you loosen chain tension, you can either flip the cage around or pick up the spring and move it to the other side of the stop.

That's a Huret Eco...actually works very well. Can't help with tension.

Same as the Huret Succes, with a 24/28 cage attachment option. I remember it's a bit fiddly, but:

What's the bike frame there, Neal? I see an early Simplex forged dropout 880, without integral hanger. And scalloped stay terminals. Looks interesting.

Charles! Hope all is well. That frame is a 70s Jeunet of some sort. I've had it built up in a couple different configurations, both with internal gear hubs, one with 650b x 38mm wheels, the other with 590 x 35mm wheels. Now I'm trying for various French components and derailleurs and 700c wheels. Pandemic project!

Jeunet, ah yes. I have one of those frames in my hoard too, I think the "630" model, though it's in rough-ish shape though salvageable if I cared to refinish it entirely. And I just checked -- it has the same scalloped terminals.
I'd be interested to know why you are going back to 700c from 584 or 590 -- the one I have has front and rear brake reach of 55 mm to 700c, or 74 mm for 650B, so fairly friendly to conversion to smaller diameter rims -- guess that's why it's still here. But I guess if you're sticking with French, you'd have to go to Mafac Raid or the braze-on solution.

This particular example had its fork replaced at some point, and while the replacement is chromed and English-threaded, it has tight tire clearance. Even with a 700c wheel, the brake reach is very short. I’m likely to sell it locally as a basic commuter once we’ve relaxed our social distancing guidelines, plus it’s using up a bunch of parts I’ve accumulated. Now I have to go fiddle with that Huret derailleur!

Thanks, all, for the advice and links. It was just a matter of rotating the cage 360 degrees. This particular Huret Eco does not have the two cage positions, just one, and I can vouch that it cannot handle a 30t max cog shown here (upper pulley rubs on the freewheel), but does just fine with a 28t cog. Paired with Simplex downtube shifters, seems quite smooth in the stand.
