Lug ID

Not much info, just a photo from a friend. Lugs fairly ornate:

Can't see any other markings, no head badge

Japanese Nervex knockoffs, IIRC. Don't remember exactly who made these. T-Mar would know.

I think Kurt nailed it, but also look something like what Windsor (Acer-Mex) used on the low-mid-level Carrera frames, which were close to gas-pipe but the lugs were nearly always chrome plated.
I have some vague recollection that maybe Juvela ID'd the Acer-Mex lugs to be sourced from an Italian firm (or copied in Mexico) but very likely they also got copied in Japan, too.

subject machine an ACER-MEX Carrera model from the early 1970's
(could have been badged as either Carabela or Windsor)
remains of fork blade transfer suggest a letter W

Carrera one model down from the better known Carrera Sport model

note the kitting of DiaCompe centrepull brakes, MAEDA gear ensemble, same headset as Carrera Sport model

two views of a Carrera Sport head -

note that the nozzle cuts are the same in both images while the feature cuts differ

feature cut of blue example matches that of subject cycle

note how pinstripe on downtube of subject machine matches that of blue example above

ACER-MEX paired these lugs with the Agrati "BRIANZA" pattern fork crown N. 000.8038

Agrati also offered the "BRIANZA" pattern crown in a variant without cutouts as seen here on a Torpado bicycle -

suspect this may be what lurks beneath the cap of the subject two-wheeler

the feature cut on the headlugs of the silver and blue examples above comes from the Agrati "ROMA" pattern lug set ART. 000.8020/U

here is a set loose -

note that the "ROMA" pattern headlugs exhibit a triangular cutout in the side of the feature cut which the lugs employed by ACER-MEX lack

this is the way Agrati did things - they would create a "new" lug pattern by combining the feature and nozzle cuts of two differing models

Agrati differed from BOCAMA & NERVEX in that they did not have model designations for specific feature and nozzle cuts but rather overall names & numbers for lug pattern sets

an interesting example of this was the Lazzaretti (Galmozzi) cycle posted by member orcasisland a couple year back -

this Agrati pattern termed "SPORT" ART. 000.8050 E/U
it combines the feature cut of pattern "AM" (with cutout added) & nozzle cut of pattern "ROMA"

infrequently encountered

---

subject silver cycle in OP above will exhibit two slight oddities of dimension in combination: steerer is .833 and bottom bracket shell is 68mm in width with Italian thread

Wow! thanks so much. I can always be suckered by a good looking lug. Only to be fooled by the lugs disguising lesser tubing.
