Difference between Shimano XT M780 and M785 the same cranks

I have chainrings for M785 double cranks, now looking for the cranks.

Can I use M780 cranks instead? Are they different in any way? Do I need to use BB spacers to make the M780 work as a double, i.e. bashguard for the large chainring, and two M785 chainrings for the inner/small?
