So that's what they look like! My brother's 1935 had been already repainted when I first saw it in 1960. I should send him this photo.
Wow, that's a lot of room over the cabinets (and a good use of it!); I don't have a ceiling anywhere in the house (except garage) that even gets to 8', storing bikes can be a problem.

This looks like a Delta brake, or two, gave their lives for this project. Great job though
