Copper leaf Orbea Orca
My 2007 Orbea Orca. The copper leaf is applied then treated with a chemical recipe to achieve the patina.
It's a mish mash of parts but works flawlessly.
Shifters/Deraileur - SRAM Force
Brakes - Dura-Ace 7800
Crankset - Dura-Ace 9000 (Ultegra rings)
Seatpost - Syntace HiFlex
Wheels - Bontrager XXX Clinchers

That's unique (I think)! I've never seen anything like it, anyway. Did you do that yourself, have it done custom, or was it a factory finish?
I'll bet it looks even better in real life, eh?

Interesting.
Is this metal leaf work something you have done much before, or had you just seen the effect and wanted to apply it? What was the motivation? Was there something that inspired it?

I've played a little with leaf in the past, nothing serious though. I've always loved the fun over the top look of some customized motorbikes/hotrods. They often use leaf to accent their designs. There are some stunning finishes in custom jewellery as well. My challenge was taking that finish (something the size of a ring or pendant) and scaling it to the size of a bike frame.
I did a matching buckshot themed saddle as well. Needless to say it was too much brown/copper.

What are the ride characteristics? Those chain stays look beefy!

I'm surprised you've never seen this frame before. Euskaltel rode Orbea for years. To be honest it rides like a box of chips. Not much for damping characteristics, you feel pretty much everything. I got it for free in 2007. I remember the marketing campaign mentioned it had been designed by a toy designer.

I'd do the seat post and the outer chain ring as well.
