Decal Application Advice
looking to finally get to a chrome torpado luxe buildup and pondering how to evenly apply a seat tube panel decal. it's a multi section set of bands on a single peel away sheet. and knowing my lack of skills in this type of endeavor, i'm going to do something uncharacteristic for me and give it some forethought! (and ask for advice..) so it doesn't come out uneven and mismatched when the bandings are supposed to come together.

My advice is to place a piece of guide tape (such as painter's tape) above or below where you want to place the decal. Make sure the guide tape is properly aligned. If you don't trust your eyeball, (depending on the frame) you can run another piece of tape or string from lug point to lug point to check it overlaps the guide tape at a right angle/perpendicular. Then you can use the edge of the guide tape to apply the new decal in the desired position. Mark the midpoint of the decal (or peel-away sheet) and start at the front of the seat tube so the decal overlaps at the back, in the gap between the rear of the seat tube and tire where any slight misalignment is less noticeable.
You can also find a way to hold it in place prior to final application, and then stand back a few feet to make sure it is in fact where you want it to be. Also, in the event you plan to mount a water bottle cage on the tube, mount the water bottle cage first to make sure that decal won't get in the way of where you want the cages to be.

If I am understanding your description correctly you can cut up the backing sheet with scissors and apply the individual components of the seat tube set separately rather than trying to apply them all at once.

^+1. I didn't quite appreciate what you meant when you wrote "a multi section set of bands." Sounds like you could cut up the sheet and then I would follow what I wrote above. Might be worth posting a photo of the decal set before doing anything permanent.
