Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not trying to tell people what to ride, but just saying that I generally don't like the paint jobs on Pegorettis. I just don't understand why people that seem to like classy frames (steel, traditional geometry, etc.) then want a paint scheme that looks like someone puked on the frame.

That mostly white stainless one is a good example - it looks like someone decided to rattlecan paint their frame, but couldn't quite figure out what they wanted, or, did it while drunk.

The all orange frame - frame is okay, but I don't like orange + black schemes at all.

The Candy Corn Peg - hmm, again, orange is okay, but matched to yellow it makes me think of Halloween candy.

But, as longer as the owners like them, that's cool

Ha ha ha...I almost love your Land Shark! I think with black tires and black pedals I'd love it, but as it is dressed now, I just like it a bit With a frame that busy, I think it calls for neutral colors elsewhere. But hey, it ain't my bike, so as long as you like it, that's fine by me.

I have a "neo-retro" bike of similar design but I want to point you to the second bike down on this page -- a Coho randonneuse -- which is a modern version of a 1930s French long-distance machine. Nicely done.

I've already posted this quite a bit on BF, but at only one week old I guess this is as "neo-retro" as it gets.

Here is my entry to the Neo Retro show -'98 Supercorsa with 8-speed Record. Sorry for the indoor shot, but it's cold and wet by the garage door!

I happen to love the Pegoretti paint, it is art and something different. I know it just looks like something a kid could throw together but it isn't that easy, try it sometime.
Now here is my Neo Retro, I found this frame on Ebay a couple months ago, painted it an put some modern components on it (10 speed Campy)
I love it, I didn't have any background on the maker so I found a picture of a Torelli that I loved so I stole the paint scheme!

Great bikes all round which have inspired me to keep my very modest & original 1985 Columbus-SL framed, Simplex-geared racer and work on getting it back up to spec. It was heading out the door but I think it probably deserves a little better after all these years. Certainly deserves new paint.

edit: I gotta find a bigger version, this looks like mini-retro!
