The last time the topic of cycling caps came up it got ugly...just like those silly hats with the tiny bills. You want to look like a French guy from the 60's, go ahead. I choose to wear a moisture-wicking Halo skull cap.

I ALWAYS wear a cycling cap, but not always a helmet. Last time I rode without a cap, I could barely see with all of the sweat in my eyes.

You gonna eat that?
I just got a cap to wear under the helmet. Haven't worn it enough to form an opinion yet. One advantage, according to the LBS owner, is that it wicks sweat from your head into the brim and it drips from there instead of into your eyes.

I always wear a cap under my helmet when riding. Rainy days--brim in front to keep water out of my face. Sunny days--brim in back to keep the sun off my neck. In cool weather it insulates, and in hot weather it absorbs. I don't like the traditional cotton caps, but I do like the synthetic wicking type. Headsweats caps

Ive worn bandannas under the helmet which do stop sweat from running down my face but dont vent as well as an Under Armor skull cap like the NFL players wear.

Not everyday, but they are a must for spring and fall riding for me when the sun is at a low angle and there's a chance of rain.

Just bought one not too long ago after becoming a commuter and spending 15 miles cursing the rain that was going between my glasses and helmet and pelting me in the eyes.

I have one that I wear some of the time. Mainly in cooler weather. Wear my vented skull cap when it's hot. Moderate days, I often don't, unless I'm commuting and want to avoid the helmet bumps.

We just got team caps. I broke Rule #22 the day we got them.
Caps are great for rain, and cold. Not so much for the heat.
For the heat I have a Walz wicking cap that I cut the top out of so it looks like a cycling cap under the helmet, but there's no cap just a sweat band and a bill

headbands, beanies, doo-rags and even cycling caps do help keep sweat out of your eyes, which I find helpful.
however there is no doubt it's hotter than going without. I ride a lot with a beanie, even the thin ones interfere with sweat evaporation. if it's humid I definitely wear one because I'm going to drown in sweat and the sweat isn't going to evaporate as the wind goes through my helmet vents.

I've tried it but found the visor limited my vision too much. Plus, there was something about the visor sticking out an inch or so under my helemet's visor that didn't feel right. I felt like a dork. Wearing it backwards is something I didn't think about, might try that.
When I got my helmet, the first thing I did was take the visor off it because I didn't think I would like it, but I discovered that it is indeed very useful. Unfortunately, my wife didn't know what it was and threw it away. Had to pay $15 for a new one.
