Hey guys! I just wanted to share my excitement! I just picked up my new Trek 2300 today 
I rode this afternoon to class, and I was blown away! It's amazing how much difference a new bike makes! I'll try and post the picture I took, but I can't figure out how to do it yet.
I haven't had much of a chance to get it all tricked out yet. I put the same old SPD pedals from my hybrid on it, added my old saddle bag to it, and mounted my SIgma computer to it. Future plans include: Look A5.1 pedals, a polar S150 HRM, a new water bottle, some new shoes, some clip on aero bars, and possibly a new seat. WHy do I have to be a poor student?!? Heh, I guess I shouldn't whine!

Nice bike! ... but I recommend not being in too big of a hurry to add expensive do-dads (upgrades) until you put a season or two on the bike and then you will have a better feel for what you really want to spend your money on.

That is a nice bike. I can't believe you ride it to class aren't you worried that it will get stolen even if it is locked up, on a college campus things disappear no matter what.

People question me all the time about the money I spend on bikes. It's simple really - I, like everybody else, work very hard for what I have and I've been at it a long time. And I have no other expensive hobbies. There's gotta be something in it for 'ol Dad right?

Well, it only took me about a year. I was dieting pretty hardcore and riding as often as possible. Looking back, I probably could have been consuming twice the amount of food and still have lost weight; but when the fat starts flying off, you want to do everything you can to keep it that way.

I bought a 2300 last year and LOVE it!! It's a great ride. Some folks whine about the Bontrager tires but I got 2000 mi out of mine.

There is nothing - absolutely nothing like speeding down the road on a brand new road bike. Well, almost!
Yesterday as I was pedaling along about 18-20mph on a slight downhill, I kept thinking "Man, I love to ride...."
If I could afford to retire, I would do it tomorrow and spend my days riding in the mornings, man-chores like lawn and vehicle maintenance in the afternoon, and another ride in the evenings.
Man, I love to ride!
