The Technium process as developed by Raleigh bonds dissimilar metals. The most common configuration - like this one - is aluminum frame tubes bonded to cromoly lugs, but there were all kinds of variants. These frames were made in the Kent, WA plant so Raleigh engineers could benefit from Boeing's experience in this area.

Well, nice to finally know what happened to the van. Actually searched around a couple years ago, figured something would be out there on the net but didn't find anything, or much about Bill Woodul for that matter. Would have been wonderful if it had been saved and not allowed to rot and sent for scrap...but maybe there's more to the story. Doesn't look like it though

I dont have exact measurements or better pictures at this time so bear with me but both seat tubes measure 21.5" center to top
Both bikes are Campy Ergo Record 8 speed equipped and are in pristine condition

Grandis Max is $1800

Built this up last year, used it for commuting, I love it but it is a little small for me for touring purposes(I'm about 5 11, is a sporty fit for my height but I'm looking for a more upright fit.). Kogswell is out of business now, but they made high quality steel frames with a utilitarian focus (inspired by old French touring and paper delivery bikes). This bike handles like a dream, especially with a front rack loaded. I've bought big laser printers on craigslist, strapped them to a front rack, and rode home with total control over the bike. The frame is fillet brazed, made with double butted tubing.
Will not come with rack, pump or lights. Does come with fenders.

Shimano XT brakeset w/ koolstops
