That is achingly beautiful.
Those old track frames were much more relaxed than stuff made even thirty years later, it seems. Pretty cool that Waterford did such a painstaking, period-correct paint job.

Thanks for all the encouraging feedback. This has been a fun project.
I got the new wheels finished today, and they make a big difference in the appearance of the bike atmo. They're marginally heavier than the Campy Record hubs/Mavic Al rims, but are much more period correct. The hubs are original Schwinn Paramount high flange "phone dials" from the late thirties, and the rims are new Ghisallo Corsa made from laminated beech. Spokes are DT Swiss 14 straight gauge (not butted).

I don't always appreciate bike porn but when I do, sometimes it's mature.

this bike rules but there are some small things that irk me. mostly those incomplete phone dial hubs. where are your dust caps? and that stem. why get something new and nasty instead of something older and slightly less nasty? ive got a 3ttt regolabile record stem on my 70s paramount thats adjustable. youre an old dude. youve earned your old guy style. old guy style rules so hard.

When I bought the hubs, the seller told me the front hub dust caps were AWOL, but I've got a buch of old hubs in my junkbox and figured some of the dust caps on those would fit. Wrong! Most are around 23mm in diameter and the Schwinn caps are 21mm. I'm going to check with some local hoarders, and if I can find some that will fit. If that doesn't work, I'll have a pair (or several pair) spun or milled by a local machine shop.
Thanks, everybody, for the compliments. I'm still on the hunt for an original Schwinn stem and cottered crank, but the idea was to make it rideable with more readily available functional bits like the Campy crank and the LDG stem until I find the original parts.

If I ever decide I don't want mine(cranks and stems(there are like, three?)) they are yours. This bike is beautiful.
If you don't mind disclosing the details, how much did the paint run you?

I dunno, but in that condition it seems way overpriced.
New, they were $75.00.

Actually, I'm embarrassed to say. In round numbers it cost a little north of $3k ($1k for the frameset on eBay, a little over $1k for the Waterford dent repair and paint, and a little over $1k for everything else, mostly by bargain hunting on eBay. The most expensive bits were the vintage Campy hubs and pista crankset. The stem is actually brand new; it's the Livery Design Gruppe Stainless Adjustable Quill Stem.
i love old paramounts

....yeah, and my great grandfather said you could go home all night,.... with a "lady",... for $.50 back then!
Beautiful bike, btw, ....but i think i'll leave my 1977 Schwinn Paramount with all her battle scars.
She's earned them! I also don't have the heartache of getting her first scratch or paint chip,....just her "next" one!
Currently set up as my only fixie,.....probably should name her "Black Beauty"
