Sticky brakes
The Tektro rear brakes on my '07 Coda Sport are bad about sticking. What's the best way to fix this?

need more info. what is sticking ? the pads to the rim? the clipers not opening ? ,what ?

Are they really sticking as in glued or just not opening uniformly and one pad remains against the rim?
If the latter, centering the caliper should cure the problem. All you have to do is twist the entire caliper around its mounting bolt until both pads are a uniform distance from the rim.

Thanks for your response, Bikeman. Mine is a pads-to-rim problem. It started our as a minor rub, and progressed to the point this morning that I had to apply force to turn the rear wheel by hand.

Lube (and or replace) the cables and adjust the calipers to the correct width.

Depends on why they are sticking. Dirty calipers can cause sticking. I seem to have more issues with dual-pivots than my old single pivots. Corroded cables can also cause sticking. I recommend teflon lined housing the teflon coated cables.
