Dura Ace 9000 Aftermarket Chainring Compatibility
Man, haven't been on here in awhile.
Anywho, just bought a Dura Ace 9000 mech groupset for my CAAD10 and I plan on running my Hollowgram SL crankset with Praxis chainrings. The chainrings have worked flawlessly on my 10 speed and Praxis has told me that they run fine with DA9k 11 spd chains, still I'm curious if anyone has any real world experience with the Praxis rings on DA9k or even Campy 11 or any other after market chainrings. I trust Praxis but some extra opinions can't hurt.

It's pretty much plug-in and play with 10spd chainrings on DA 9000. I've built six bikes with it, two with the standard crank, one with the shimano CX crank and rings, two with the 2012 sram red chainset, and one with Cannondale spider rings. All worked flawlessly.

That's what I figured, I haven't had the chance to work on one outside of with the spider ring, which oddly enough I found to be somewhat sub-par. It reminded me of those old lightweight MKIV chainrings they used to equip. Wanted to go with the DA9000 crank but don't want to deal with bb30 adapaters.

I had a gut feeling that'd be the case, glad I waited. At least with the SL's you could just put on Praxis or FSA chainrings, with the SISL2's now you're stuck. I feel better about sticking to my old SL's.

There's a way to put a traditional spider on there, it's a part in a catalogue. Can't remember it right now. Will check when I get to work tomorrow.

The spidering can be run on the SISL as well. Nothing special with the setup. It is rumored that praxis makes the spidering as well. Only a couple of companies can make cold forged rings. Shimano and praxis are the two I know of.

According to the catalog, the parts are the same for both 2013 SiSL2 and 2013 SL.
