Strange “burp”

I’ve really been happy with my MTB setup. 2.4 Maxxis tires tubeless. Since I got the bike in March, I’ve added air to them only twice. They’ve been amazing.

Anyway, after a ride yesterday at my typical 27ish PSI, the bike was in the back of the car with wheels off since the rack was used as a shuttle for others. 2+ hours after the ride and driving home I heard a hiss.

Once home, the tire was still mounted and not leaking sealant but only had a psi or two. No damage whatsoever, no evidence of a leak.

I pumped it up and it held air overnight. Due to automotive twister, I rode the same bike to work today. It was fine and it hasn’t lost any air. We’ll see if it gets me home tonight but I expect it will again be fine.

What gives. The wheel was probably laying diagonally in an air conditioned car. No leaks. Works fine now.

Wierd.

My neighbor behaves the same way after a few beers, next morning he's fine, no loss of air. Seriously, I would just wait to see if it happens again as it could be just some freak combination of factors that caused it to burb and may never happen again. Check from the outside to make sure the beads are uniformly seated with a quick inspection.

The presta valve core being untwisted (human error) has been the source of a few of my "mystery flats."

I don't get excited about weird things that only happen once. When they keep happening then I'll worry.

It does bother me that you've only added air twice since March. But I haven't ever had any experience with big tubeless tires.

It blows my mind, so little loss. I’m sure if I was super diligent about pressures it would have been 3 times. Still, it’s pretty amazing how little I’m losing.

excessive heat & inflated to a high PSI can result in what you've experienced.
