Pedals sometimes are really hard to get off if you do not have shop sized tools. Make sure they are loose enough to get them off a few days in advance so you are not in a panic at the last minute.

Been there... Done that... Got the scars to prove it! Finally made a pipe extender for the pedal allen wrench. Much easier!

Unfortunately learned that the hard way through my own stupidity...

This was on a trip where we flew into Tbilisi Georgia. I was jet lagged and had the bike upside down. Somehow the combination had me get my left/right mixed up and try putting the pedals on the wrong way. Stripped my cranks. First order of business was a taxi ride to find a bike shop to get replacement cranks...

I am still amazed that you knew that a spark plug could thread into a crank to use if your pedal failed, that is from one of your posts months ago. But of course, that only works on one side. Unless they started making left hand threaded spark plugs.
