This isn't really a commuter bike, but I do ride it to work when there is 0% chance of rain, which lately, has been very rare. I swapped out the Fizik Arionne saddle for this B17. More vintage look. Also adjusted the brake levers to optimize their use in the drops. Not really ideal for riding in the hoods.

Yeah, that kind of colour scheme was popular back in the 80's.

I'm in total agreement with everything you said ^^. My horn is a "Blast" (Blast? Airhorn | BioLogic Bicycle Accessories and Bike Gear) which looks like a re-branded Airzound. Everyting you said is true.
My only recommendation would be to locate the horn close enough to one of the grips so that you don't have to take your hand off the bar to operate it.

+2. Is that an intentional photobomb?

My OCR3 Daily
Hey y'all!
Here is my fairly stock OCR3. I really want to heavily outfit this thing as my daily. If there are any people out there that have outfitted their OCR I would love to talk to you and get some ideas about what fits best on these bikes. Specifically fenders, rear rack or saddle bags, and other weather proofing items. Thanks for looking and your advice and comments!
p.s hope my image shows up... first post with a picture

My commuter in the early morning light. Salsa Colossal 2. I have about a 30 mile round trip. I bring a lot of stuff into the office when I drive, so I travel with just a light backpack on the days I ride.

The Miyata 610 has double eyelets, braze ons in the middle of the fork, cantilever brake mounts.
All of these could be used for mounting a rack.

True, when I bought it, I thought it would reach the braze-on (and it was for a different bike), but the arms are a little too short. Nitto has different sized stays, so maybe I'll find a set that reaches the eyelets...then again it doesn't bother me too much the way it is.

I bought this '92 Project-3 a couple months ago. It's going to be used mainly as a "bad weather" commuter, but it's also a fun ride in the sun. Rides pretty nice on gravel too. I had to clean it up quite a bit, but I'm Ok with it now.
Surly Moloko bars; I like them. Probably not the best looking, but I find them very functional for hand positions.

I've got a new commuter in the works. A few more upgrades, dial in the fit and we should be good to go.
I'm actually really excited to try it out on the daily commute. Should be a blast.

There is a lot of interesting things going on with that. I kind of like it. Who is it marketed towards?

I believe that it is marketed towards people in areas like Japan where storage and space is at a premium. I like it because I can store it at work in the office and then take it out for lunch time rides. I think it will make a good commuter too because it is just so much fun to ride. Gets a lot of attention too.

That looks very similar to my '93 Advantage, which I converted to my winter mule:

Same era, that's for sure. Your Advantage looks great with the drops.

True, but the main difference was that is was labeled as a mountain bike, and not a hybrid. The Project-5 and Project-7 were the upper tier 700cm mountain bikes, but all three had the same frame. These were the first "29ers" that just never caught on until recently.

Mine was advertised as 'Cross Terrain', the beginnings of cyclocross, I suppose--cantilever brakes, taller BB, short head tube. It's heavy has heck, but tough.

I bet it rides great too. Those Moluko bars and rear rack did nothing to help with weight on mine, that's for sure. Then I add my panniers loaded with my lunch and supplies and it feels like a tank. Albeit, a rather nimble, fairly fast tank.

Thanks very much. I have a whole list of changes I'd like to make in the future but the first will be to replace that hideous stem with a Nitto Technomic and increase the reach. Its a little cramped right now.

Meh! Maybe if I were to take all the accessories off and slap on slicks it might. As it is it is usually wearing 38mm city tires, and with fenders, rack, panniers that are loaded with 40lbs of groceries, OR wearing 35mm studded tires for winter use, I hardly say it's nimble. But that's why I call it my mule.
No one cares
Nice bike friend! I'd love one - now if they only made them in my size...
