Rotrax - Does this look bad to you?
Hey guys and gals...
I have always wanted a Rotrax. And I have always wanted to try my hand at an acid bath restoration.
But does this frame look bent too far to be worth it (rear triangle)?

Right seat stay has a shallow bow in it, easily straightened - no danger of harm.
Lug pattern: NERVEX 48/161
Crown: Vagner Nr. 11+
Pump pegs are NERVEX Nr. 845
Looks like it would make for a fine project.
Fairly late by Rotrax standards.
As you may already have learned, the Veteran Cycle Club of the U.K has a marque enthusiast for Rotrax. If you join the club you could get serial number, date, model & specifications information from this person. They would of course be delighted to record your serial for their registry.

Yes, take this to a frame repair individual and that stay should be fine, he/she can touch up the alignment, too. Only thing I'd caution against is depending on the material of that headbadge maybe best to remove and set aside and THEN give the frame/fork that acid bath.

That stay is a piece of pie! Looks like a nice frame. Why that particular marque interests you?

That's a small amount of bow, and it could easily be repaired by someone who knows what they are doing. BITD any decent bike shop could have fixed it. There was a VAR tool we used to use.
The alignment and dropouts will need to be checked and tweaked afterwards.

This is a much newer frame - early 70s - and without any tube replacements it became a stable (no hands stable) rider.

Straighten the stay and then take the time to look at Frame and Fork Repair, paying close attention to Stringing and Centering or aligning...
