I had a great CL post for this thread, a high-carbon Rampar "vintage" road bike with a ton of rust on the frame (but new tires and cables!) and nearly non-operational brakes (I gave it a test ride) for $225.

However, the ad is gone, and it looks like they sold it... I guess the market is pretty intense for vintage road bikes in a college town.

I think you could get a pretty decent fork angle if you simply reversed the fork

And you could probably leave it anywhere and nobody would mess with it.

I wonder if the wheels roll true.

Make me an offer - not $1.00.
It is probably worth at least $10.

Hmmmm, okay, need to sell the bike. Let's do an awesome picture of my awesome self in the sun. Oh hey lookit that I didn't realize the bike was in that pic too! Bonus! Alright, that establishes my cred beyond a doubt. Now I just need pics of the bike. I think I'll do 'em all inside. In the dark. Perfect.
[h=2]Scattante - $650 (River & oracle)[/h]

I have this Scattante bicycle that was given to me as a present last year but I've used it 2 times, includes the following gear: Helmet, gloves, padded shorts, shirt. The gear alone amounts to about 250, you'll get it all for the same price. Text me at 520 304-973five :-)

Ahhh...
But it also includes the shorts.
Have they been laundered?

It looks like it was a $600 bike from Performance

So, paying $650 for the bike might be a good deal with the used shorts included.

It does look like an interesting bike. I'm not sure about the flat bars, but I was surprised to see the linear pull brakes. It has good tire clearance for those wishing to use larger tires, or perhaps wanting to mount fenders.

super cool double bend fork! (your eyes are not playing tricks on you!)

WOW!!!!

Not a track bike at all. Cheap pressed dropouts. Dished Wheel. Clearly has cable stop on right chainstay. And while "fixies" may have eyelets, not track bikes.

I like the "super cool double bend fork". Anybody want to bet that it isn't a factory double bend, but perhaps more related to someone running into a parked car with their eyes closed?

Nonetheless, it might be a fun project bike. I might be tempted to offer $25 on it, perhaps $50 tops.

Looks like what's left of a late 70's Grand Prix with a really old and crappy repaint and the bent fork turned around so the front wheel wouldn't hit the downtube.

Sounds like $50 is a fair deal for that bike, or for the other thing...

Also, I wonder what the other side of that garage looks like, because it sure looks from that photo like there's plenty of room!

They call it a tantrum because if your stoker gets mad and finds another way home, you can't ride the bike alone.

I can't find a lot of info about that sticker. If the bike was in fact a professional racing bike, it might have a little value. However, Team TI-Raleigh won a few stages, but did not win the TDF in 1978.

Did Raleigh put that sticker on all of their high end bikes?

A little value yes, but five figures?

I thought the Team TI-Raleigh bikes were red.

And reduced the price about $9600.00.

It looks like a Raleigh Competition to me.

If one had an actual bicycle that a well known rider like LeMond or Merckx actually rode as their primary bicycle to win the TDF, I have no doubt it would command a healthy price to a collector.

But, if it wasn't an actual winner, then I don't see it making much difference. And just being a factory bike of a similar style to the team bikes... Nothing.
