I didn't notice the sewups. I imagine the double bar would certainly add some torsional stiffness. If I was nearby I would love to test ride it. I have 36" inseam and 37" arms. I would call it a hybrid tall bike....

No comment??? In case you missed it, as I understand it, all Lambert and Viscount aluminum forks were recalled. There are different models. Some are more prone to breaking than others, but as I understand it, they are all considered a potential hazard. The frame itself might be ok, but with a fairly low end component set, it is not a bike I would touch.

It is marked as "star cruiser" on the bike. But, I have no idea if it was actually used at Universal Studios... and if it was, is the bike stolen?

The price isn't too bad, but quite a bit of rust including rusty spokes that will probably need rebuilt. However, the tires may be brand new... or at least unridden.

I like how the seller manages to include every unrelated search term he can possibly think of.

Not so much "wacky" as overly optimistic. The wheels aren't original, and would have made the package a little more attractive, IMO. That is the original "death fork" and as such should be replaced. The nicest thing there is the frame, and that's probably only worth $50-75 bucks, tops.

The whole "death fork" thing is blown way out of proportion, of the first two versions a fraction of 1% failed! the third version had no recorded failures. No deaths or serious injuries are recorded either. I have done some 50mph descents on my MKIII fork. Is the hype in the back of your mind while doing it? Hell yes it is but I still have all my teeth and not dead. Mine weighs in at under 21 lbs (without trying hard)these are underrated overly berated bikes. They tried a number of different things, some worked some didn't.

Now the bike advertised is a mishmash of parts and overpriced, would I let mine go for that though? I don't think so

I was this |-| close to purchasing that bike but ultimately did not pull the trigger. It wasn't the 'Death Fork' that scared me, it was just not knowing about parts necessary for future maintenance and what not. My knowledge about c&v bikes is limited as it is and I didn't want to end up with something that I would regret if fixes weren't easy. If that makes any sense.....

The viscounts are not the best for simple maintainance, they have peculiar quirks that are not seen often. I would not recommend one to someone with limited knowledge or wanting to learn as the crank, the bb, the wheel bearings are all different to almost every other bike you will come across. I do like mine though

Yeah, thanks, that's exactly what I was afraid. I was doing my best to research before I jumped into the unknown. In the future, as long as I have another 'regular' bike to ride, I wouldn't be against picking one of these up for a second bike/project/learning experience but not as a primary ride. I do really, really love the looks of 'em!!

I guess some people place greater value on their safety than others. regardless, aluminum fork ride qualities are no bueno. i tried one out and my hands went numb after 2 miles.

Here in San Diego, there is currently a commercial where Bill Walton is endorsing a local hospital for the knee replacement surgery that gave him back the ability to ride his bike again, and it shows Walton riding his bike. Bill is between 6'10" and 6'11", and his bike is not as tall as the one on this Craigslist ad - Bill's bike appears to be something in the 68-69 cm vicinity.

Isn't that one of those ubiquitous terms like "10-Speed" that one can add to any bike whether it has 5, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21, 24, 27, 30, or 33 speeds?

For sale the 2 bikes listed above. The Trek frame on Ebay goes for over $200 alone. Both bike look like they have interchangeable parts. Bike both have kryptonite locks on them with lost keys, so they'll have to be cut off. Look at pictures of the Trek its missing the rear brake and is a 1 speed. The seat on the Trek is a Brooks brand. Searched online and there well over $100! Thats crazy!!!

Make me an offer.

It is easy enough to cut them off with a grinding wheel/cutoff disk. But, I agree. Call the local PD, and check the online stolen bike registries before handing over the dough.

I think the Trek has narrower wheels, maybe Continental Gator Tires, and the Brooks seat. But, personally I'm not too big on the single speed. Does it have vertical dropouts?

It looks like since the seller wasn't getting enough responses she decided to raise the price a little.... hopefully to entice greater interest in this bike.

That ad has been up for quite some time.
