122 BCD Nervar Star?
I recently talked to a person who wanted to buy a 122 BCD triplizer ring for their Nervar Star crank. I said that as far as I knew, that particular crankset was never available for anything but 128 BCD rings, and suggested that maybe he'd measured wrong. But having been surprised many times by French bikes and components, I said I would look into it and get back to him.
Good thing, because what do you know? Esteemed BF member verktyg, writing on Velobase, postulates that the more recent of the two models of Nervar Star cranks may have been available in a 122 BCD. Interesting, but not exactly definitive. Has anyone actually seen one of these unicorns?

the set/model received a cosmetic revision for the 1976 model year
my recollection was always that dimensions remained unchanged
wonder if this might have something to do with it...
have never heard tell of any cooperation between Peyrard and Verot
the two firms belonged to different export groups, GEFFAC & FREXA, back in pre-STC times

Cool! Who knew?
Did they come with Nervar-branded chainrings also, do you recall?

I’ve definitely had 122 bcd Nervar cranksets. They were also definitely more modern and shaped than the old-school blocky ones.
Here’s one on eBay in the style I remember as 122 bcd:

Cannot speak for the one that got away on a nice bike.
Not sure I can find a closeup pic of the other.
But I will look for it AFTER a nice bike ride now. Darn, …. note to self…. stop checking BF pre-ride.

Neither of the Nervar cranksets were original to the framesets. I believe this one has original rings= 53/42. Also stamped as BSA.

thank you!
this G2 set appears to be the one which came OEM on your Olympian
since Herr A-D is an '80-'81 fellow that helps to date chainset

Ahhh,... Lightbulb moment = I had not checked the Olympian spec for crankset, ....or forgot I did, ....or did not put 2+2 together. Purchased the AD Olympian from a flipper (15+years ago) who had several frames and many cranks, etc. Given 170mm length, it may not be original to the 62cm frame, or that was my thinking. Maybe the BB is also original, too. Doesn't matter to me, this one has been a keeper.

I believe the one that came on the Bottecchia Giro d'Italia is 122. Nope, measured and it is 128.

If you still have the bike and/or crankset, would you mind measuring that BCD sometime? That's the first version of the crank, I think, and according to the speculation on Velobase, it only came in 128. It would be really useful to know if it also came in 122.

I have a 128mm set (never did understand why Nervar chose to go proprietary on BCD), but I have indeed heard of the Simplex-compatible 122mm variations, but never seen one in captivity.
One can easily modify any 130mm ring or triplizer to 128mm by elongating the mounting holes inward by 1mm (been there ... done that, still have the 44T Shimano ring), but 122mm would be a different proposition.

thank you
reason mentioned your Olympian is that I recalled the Star as being the OEM chainset for that model in the early years of the marque
the A-D launch in a the U.S. market was 1976
first saw of the models in person was 1978 in me LBS who had become a stockist
so the example looked at would have been some variety of the G2
thanks for the reply

@SJX426 - Thanks for the memory assist. Here's the other Nervar crankset i spun. Never measured the bcd.
edit: This one passed thru @SurferRosa - he is meticulous, and must have measured the bcd and inspected the rings.

SR rings are much more common than 122 Nervar, likely cheap, so worth a flutter.
