I took a half day yesterday and did 48 miles. Contadore performed extremely well, very happy with the changes I've made. I won't be able to blame the bike this year that's for certain. I felt like poo on the bike for the first 20 miles. I did a hard Zwift session on Wednesday that left me sore and tired. I made a couple of saddle tilt adjustments. In the first couple miles and lowered it about an 8th of an inch. Feels dialed now. Cockpit changes are paying off, I spent more time on the hoods than the back of the bars. Felt pretty good overall.
I am riding on a pair of Grand Sport race III's. They have a decent ride. A few extra grams. But not terrible. I'm going to ride em a while and see how they do.

That looks like about the angle of the tracks I was trying to cross one day and found myself on the ground with my handlebars 30 degrees off kilter.

Wife’s procedure went well, her eye pressure is lowered to single digits now. She’s on the long path to recovery, meanwhile my cataract procedure is next week and I’m hoping she will be able to help me if I really need it. My recovery won’t take near as long as hers, but still I’m concerned.

Team Draft Friday race, 3 laps Loch Loop, 10/17 very very hard
Hard start dropped a few and we were down to 12 within 2 min. Lost 2 more along the way. Super punchy course. I was first to lose contact w the main group about 2 miles out, going into the super hilly shreddy section. As you can see from the time gaps, it was just blown up out there. Good workout!
My MIL is visiting all weekend, which is slightly annoying, but it also means I will be able to get long rides in both days. I think I'll do 3 hours indoors on Saturday and venture outside for 4 on Sunday before the Superbowl. Looking forward to relaxing after the long ride, eating some apps, having a couple beers and just relaxing and watching the game. Might marinade and grill some chicken thighs. Go Niners!
A bit blown out going into the final lap
A very spikey 4.0

pretty down over here. thought i had arrived at a level of exertion/riding that was still satisfying while acceptable to the heart condition, but for the last two weeks almost anything above just walking on level ground is triggering unpleasant arrhythmias. not the life threatening defibrillating kind, but enough to ruin a ride. doctors are uncertain, as always. it might finally be time to quit cold turkey, do a fire sale on the gear and tools, and try to forget about it.
we’re also in the process of buying a new place and at least good bike parking and charging wouldn’t be a criteria anymore.

Yeah. Maybe weight as well. I did a TdZ ride the other day. On Zwiftpower, I was 78th out of 220. BUT I was 6th out of 32 in the "60+" age class, 4th out of 29 in the 90kg+ group, and 1st in the 60+ y.o/90+kg class!

Dude I’m super sorry to hear about this. I hope it’s just a phase and/or a doctor can actually give you some feed back.
Are you staying hydrated? Sounds silly, but sometimes it can be a simple fix.
I wouldn’t sell that scott, if I were you.

i’m hoping there’s some random or smaller factor like hydration or stress or timing of meds or something that will make a difference, but not optimistic. the funny thing about the hydration is that since i’m on a diuretic to keep the blood volume low (helps with heart failure, supposedly) any attempt to really hydrate just results in a LOT of urination. 😂😂😂

the scott will be the last one to go since it’s the one that’s more likely still possible to ride. it’s also not a very popular bike, a really small niche obvious reasons 😂

It’s not that I don’t drink water. I’ll drink 2 liters on that flight just never pee. I have been on a diuretic now for 6 months just to help with my left leg. Veins don’t work properly so the left leg swells due to water build up. Even on the diuretic I still don’t pee much.

So I have never had to pee a lot. My whole life I have been that way. I can go almost all day without peeing. I’ll fly from JFK to PHX and not leave the cockpit once.

my typical medium length ride last year would be 50 miles, a couple thousand of climbing, and i’d bring one small bottle on the bike and that would be it. i’d hydrate a bit after, of course. for a 75 mile ride i’d bring that same small bottle but stop around halfway and buy something to refill it and maybe have another 12-18 oz of fluids.

It's usually harder than real racing, unless you're talking a particularly hilly road race w long climbs. On the flip side - real racing is often more tactical, especially at higher levels. Z is just a slug fest.
