I’ve watched my drive dry off and get wet again at least 5x this morning. May have to just HTFU.

My Chromebook died, or is dying. I will not be re-learning Windows. Apple? I think not, though one never knows As my Chromebook steadily lost function, I steadily have considered stepping off. If I disappear.....

Agree. My club does not have an e-bike policy. I would defer to the ride leader if it ever becomes an issue.

A lawn is a distinct area, not just the grassed land associated with a deeded plot. The old homestead makes your case look even worse, with many separate fields and pastures.

Like, I think there's a multitude of reasons people might want to ride one and I think it's great, but also I don't want them on a group ride and I think there should probably be some sort of medical requirement before you can take them on a MTB trail.

Like so many things the conversation (not this thread but usually) is presented in terms of a false binary. Either you're cool with e-bikes everywhere at all times under all circumstances or you absolutely hate e-bikes and e-bike riders and think that they kill puppies.

Yes: riding downtown, going to the store, toodling around the neighbourhood, MUPs, people who ride once a month
No: Serious cyclists, proper bicycle rides
Next topic.

So I ended up doing what I thought would be just a 1hr MTB ride, but I lost my saddle bag at some point on the trail and spent an hour hiking around trying to find it. Mentioned losing it to another rider that passed me but she said she hadn't seen anything.
In a lucky break, as I was getting back to my car assuming it will just end up being a lucky find for someone else, the rider I had seen earlier was helping someone else fix a flat, and they had found it!

I'm inclined to agree with this man in this regard.

I can't see that the lady was "grossly negligent." She was careless at best. I certainly don't see anything criminal in the videos.
The distinction is usually along these lines:The terms “ordinary negligence” and “gross negligence” frequently appear in discussions of legal matters. Many people do not understand that there is a distinction between the two terms. Negligence is the failure to use the level of care and caution that an ordinary person would use in similar circumstances. It often involves a careless mistake or inattention that causes an injury.
Gross negligence on the other hand is the deliberate and reckless disregard for the safety and reasonable treatment of others. In both cases, the fundamental disregard for responsibility must directly cause harm to another person, another person’s property, or both.
I think the responsibility falls more on the race organizers for not erecting physical or other barriers between the spectators and competitors. Every film you see has spectators entering the road and doing stupid stuff in close proximity to the competitors.

I'm curious to see what the charges are. And the penalty they request - Jaywalking/guillotine?

400 km of barriers every day? (200 km route x 2 sides of the road)

I remember helping the club I rode with setting up their annual downtown, Sunday AM criterium. We started at 5, with the first race at 8. I'm imagining how big the crew would have to be to do 200 km! I could eliminate unemployment in Europe for a month!

Could be as simple as a pennant rope strung between stakes or marshals stationed along the course to keep the spectators off the road.
If you allow people to get on the race course, accidents are going to happen.

Stuff like that is always happening. This time it just involved a lot of riders. She was careless and it shouldn't have happened, but I have a hard time believing this rises to the level of a criminal act or gross negligence.
