Haha, you guys crack me up. Completely mocked photo, did it for the lolz...although, if I had gotten a old version frame, I was going to cut the mast so the seat is slammed and actually build it like this, then ride it for a week until it exploded from and overload of awesomeness.

Hi all,
I just received my FTP 52cm and it's crimped at the BB but not at the Fuji letters along the chainstay. Would this affect how long crank arms I can run or would I need spacers? I plan on getting the Sram Omnium crankset so I want to know if those will fit on my FTP. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
MTH

Thanks Connor, if you see a guy around tower grove or clayton on a ftp it's probably me. I should have mine built up mid next week.

What other cranksets would work with a 52cm FTP that's crimped only at the bottom bracket?

aluminum apparently oxidizes... with thin tubes like the ftps i'd probably look into a clear coat if you haven't already.
cranks came in!
there's about 2-3 mm of clearance on the spider arms... so much that that stupid ETC sticker had to come off. the arm fits nicely in the J crimp at 170 length.

From my understanding Aluminum oxidizes very easily, but only the surface. And the aluminum oxide on the surface is really hard/scratch resistant (corundum, an aluminum oxide mineral, is used sandpaper). I don't think he has to worry about the frame too much.

cc700 - My TET has clearance like that with the Omniums, never had an issue. What happened to your logos?
And how thin are the tubes anyways? I would have expected a lighter frame if the tubes were really that thin.

black electric tape.
most of the tubes aren't super thin, but the downtube and extremely butted parts of the seat tube and seat stays seem thin enough to be concerned if you were to effectively eat away at the metal over a period of a few years.

Oxidization isn't like rust, it doesn't remove material, its just a coating that forms on the surface of aluminum...in lamens terms, all your shiney annodized parts are oxidized (chemicaly, to exact specifications) and then the oxidization is dyed to achive the coloring. Like I said, I've ridden several frames like this in the past, never had any problems with them.

oh hell yeah, second i get it rolling i'm coming over for a reflective tape party
maybe the oxidization isn't the problem but i remembered looking at this when I stripped my XRL:

While many metals do not oxidize under normal conditions (room temp, normal humidity) most metals will oxidize considering the conditions. Even titanium can oxidize! D:
Since oxidizing is simply the process of metals reacting with oxygen, its such a broad term that encompasses most metals that occur naturally.
Time to bring down the chemistry banhammer:
The main group of metals all oxidize. When they react with nonmetal elements, they will oxidize in the presence of oxygen.

Most metals in this world, Will oxidize, you just have to condition it. Think about the inside of car rims, Granted it faces the stressors from car dust, But its still aluminium and it faces a horrible amount of oxidization.
