Just the current bid. There are a couple of hours left on the auction.

Indeed. Good condition, reasonable miles, 993 or 964 are going to be close to $100 if not more, and earlier models will be even more. Maintenance and service costs are high as well. Local specialty shop told me once to budget $2500/year for maintenance on an air cooled 911.

Are you carless completely?
We could not live without cars in this area. I only live 4 miles from my office, but I would not ride my bike to work due to the congestion and traffic. The route I would have to take is just too dangerous on a bike. Plus, I have to get around for my job from time to time (less now with Covid, but that will eventually revert). My wife and I currently have three plus our son's car. We've had more, but I'm somewhat of a car nut.

I live about 4 mi. from work and rarely drive, but require an all-weather, 24 hr, way to get there for emergencies and the boat is 40 mi. away, so we're stuck.

I would love to be car-free again - that was one of the things that I really loved about living in Brooklyn, but I think that we'll have to settle for car-lite. If we should move in to the development that we have our eye on, we'd be very car-lite, with most day-to-day amenities and quite a bit of recreation within a short walk. At that point, something like ZipCar might be viable again, but the car is paid off, so it might not make sense until maintenance becomes an issue.

No. I have a 2004 Element and LSS has a 2016 Mazda 3. We have no covered parking and put about 3000 combined mi/yr on these vehicles.

I'm not as familiar with the Element, but you can't beat a Honda.
Between my wife and I, we put about 20-25k miles per year on our cars.

Mazda 3s are great cars. We bought our son one when he got his license. Two years ago he got rear-ended by a pickup and it totaled the car. We gave him the option of getting something different, but he wanted one just like the one he lost, same color even. He loves the thing.

The Element is a small storage container with a slick plastic floor liner, on a CRV frame. With the rear seats out, it will carry a set of sails for a 40 footer or gear and provisions for a 2-week cruise. It's also variable AWD and has a great sound system, heat, and AC.

Old cars never get old.
I'm really missing Cruisin' the Gut in Vancouver, USA. Perfect size, perfect seriousness level, wide variety... Best car show I've been to. (coulda done without the orange 'vette rollin' Main St. with his corny wing doors up, though )

Yes. I want it where I don't have to worry about it that much. At least I don't store it indoors with the stick down, like my rich New England friends do with their "varnish hogs."
Actually, the richest and friendliest of them all lives in Midland and Taos and keeps his boat in Maine most of the time.

I had a client a while back that lived in Fort Worth, and had a summer place in Maine. He kept some type of "classic" day sailor at his place in Maine, and only had it in the water about 3 months out of the year. Seemed like a lot of work for such a small amount of time. Plus, he only spent about three weeks of the summer in Maine. It was mostly his wife's "place" to get away.

There are a few of those running around here, and it seems they haul roofing material on flatbeds. They're super low to the ground, and I couldn't understand how their bumpers survived. I then saw this in action one morning, and it turned into a good day indeed.

I'm happy we can leave ours in the water year round. Only haul for a bottom job every 3 or 4 years.
